warning font not found #11583

Steps to reproduce

when Windows Terminal terminal is opend it shows warning saying missing fonts when fonts is already installed and it gets resolved once profile clicked and saved again.

Expected Behavior

fonts should be loaded

Interesting. This is definitely different than the "Cascadia Mono" error that's similar.

So, what did settings.json contain before you saved the settings with the UI, and what did it contain after? Presumably the SUI did some extra validation that corrected whatever issue it thought it was running into, I just want to know what that issue was 😛

Weirdly, they're the same. So we're not correcting anything, it's just the load path doesn't find it, but the reload path does? Weird. This might be similar to the thing @lhecker and @miniksa are investigating with the fonts, but probably not.

Still cant repro even in 1.11.2921.0 from github releases. Is it possible that there is something in the file what did not get copied?

This typically only happens when the store stages an update and then completes it; folks upgrading manually through GitHub or others are much less likely to see it.

@charudatta10 When you installed the font, how did you do that? Did you install if just for your current user, or did you install it globally (for all users)? There have been some issues about that in the past. Kinda like #12587, #3257

@zadjii-msft the tried both methods first directaly downloading .ttf file and install fonts globally it gave error so i uninstalled it and added locally using scoop installer still same isuue.

@zadjii-msft I'm also experiencing this with all of these variants (from here):

Previously I was able to go into the settings and just select it again, and it'd work on pressing save. The latest version (1.12.10908.0) seems to also break this workaround.

This issue needs to be re-opened

@9point6 The bug is still there.

Solution : The problem is resolved if font.ttf file is installed for all users.

This is an annoying issue that comes and goes. I'm not sure what triggers it but the font is installed, and it suddenly starts to pop up.

I had the same issue on Win11 Iwith all updates) and found that problem was with the FontCache service. So I stopped it: sc stop "FontCache" sc config "FontCache" start=disabled

And now all new installed fonts works fine in Windows Terminal sessions. PS: I tried rebuild the font cache service earlier but after each reboot problem came back.

For plain Windows users like me, the two commands @darekjk mentioned work in cmd.
