Can you give more information how you got this error?

After updating co-pilot and switching the chat to the secondary bar it was no longer functioning. I'd ask a question and get that response back.

In code completions were working correctly, but chat was down with code sample enabled or disabled. Copilot status looked okay from the bottom tool bar menu of view status.

I ended up restarting VScode and the error went away, but hitting the 'retry' button on the chat before the restart would repeat the same 'Language Model Unavailable ' message with a red X icon.

Sometimes it can be solved by uninstall and install or just upade the copilot extension,but i guess it depends on luck

If someone gets this error before they reboot they can get the logs but they were already gone when I looked again today.

It seems like restarting the extension (or restarting VScode which restarts the extension anyways) is the current default answer. It's not a good answer. But maybe someone will get lucky and think to get logs next time before trying the usual 'turn it and off' we all try.

This got resolved after restarting extension ( Ctrl + Shift + X --> Restart Github Copilot Chat). But I am not able to see any option to select model ?

Does this reoccur, or does it go away after reloading the window, restarting extensions, whatever else worked around it?

The error went away and has not returned since the restart of VScode. I do have the model selection input now as well, but it was not there at first after I fixed the 'Langauge Model Unavailable' with a restart. It seems like it took multiple restarts of my computer/vs code over the course of a couple days to fully update/fix the new Copilot Chat interface.

Now everything is normal and I have the model selector. I have not changed it yet as I don't want to break it all again...

Uninstall copilot and reinstall it again, it fixed the error for me
