Improve test coverage for script-library scripts across distro versions #1020

Relates to: Both

Related to #1019, we should expand regression test coverage for script library contents to cover distro versions we intend to support. Currently we only do a single distro version for Debian and Ubuntu, which can cause issues.

Furthermore, we likely should add a few functional tests to part of the verification process.
