Intellisense doesn't provide any options #1255

Open rogersm-uwosh opened 5 months ago

rogersm-uwosh commented 5 months ago

Type: Bug

  1. Create a new C# .NET Project (.NET MAUI)
  2. Open up MainPage.xaml
  3. Put the cursor next to Label and type the letter H
  4. All I see is the letter H - shouldn't I see Height, HeightRequeset, and other things that start with the letter H?

Note that when I did this, there were no other VSC projects open (I'd read that might've been an issue for others).

Oh, just to balance the bad with the good, compared to the problems I'd had previously with the VSC extension, this is 1000x better.

@rogersm-uwosh Do you get C# IntelliSense for .NET MAUI types? If not, then XAML IntelliSense won't work either because it is based on the same underlying Roslyn type symbols.

rogersm-uwosh commented 4 months ago

I do get Intellisense on the .xaml.cs side with .NET MAUI types. But on the .xaml side I am seeing nothing.

I just made a new project, went into the <Image tag, started typing W, and got a choice of Welcome, World, and winfx, nothing about WidthRequest.

On the .xaml.cs side, I can see WidthRequest as soon as I write new Image().W

I must be the only person experiencing this, because it's as annoying as all get out, and I'd assume there would be howls of rage if it didn't work for the majority.

@rogersm-uwosh, I'm not sure what this refers to:

Extension version: 1.0.6

What versions of the following extensions do you have?

You should make sure that you have the latest versions of all of them.

rogersm-uwosh commented 4 months ago

Here are the versions, in the order in which you asked. They are the latest versions.

Thanks @rogersm-uwosh, those are all current, so that's good. The next thing to check would be the Output pane to see if there are any errors or exceptions reported in the C# logs:

If there's nothing suspicious looking in there then the next thing to check would be the C# LSP Trace Logs (also in the Output pane) and look for anything related to xaml.

FYI: you can temporarily increase the logging verbosity to Trace to get more detailed information (look for dotnet.server settings):
