Scratch that, it took several minutes to load the output which is definitely odd behavior but it did eventually load (cells that run successfully load instantly).
Thanks for filling this issue. Please could you provide the finding info (so we can repro this at our end):
Please confirm you area using remote SSH
+1 same issue in the last couple days after updating.
Sometimes errors work, sometimes something goes wrong and then they don't show anymore. Same thing also happens with plots, but can't figure out exactly how to reproduce any of it.
Seems to be an issue with the output mimetypes/renderer?
then after a minute or so it changes to this:
with the output message:
Error loading preloads:
Failed to fetch dynamically imported module: https://file+.vscode-resource.vscode-webview.net/Users/jayme/.vscode-insiders/extensions/ms-toolsai.jupyter-2022.1.1001601240/out/datascience-ui/errorRenderer/errorRenderer.js

Things work again briefly after a reload, but the issue comes back pretty quick and frequently.
Looks like we're having problems in VS Code loading the renderers
Also the user is on remote SSH, see the error message in the comments Fetching remote diagnostics for 'ssh-remote+aparente-t7820' timed out.
Seeing the same issue here.

I have noticed that to get a detailed output, it is possible to click on the </> and select the built-in version to get the old error output.
I have reproduced this on remote and on local.

Issue Type: Bug
I just updated VScode insiders and now when I run a cell that generates an error, I just get the red X at the bottom of the cell but no error message or any output appears making it impossible to debug. I can see the output from code cells that run without errors.
