@mpuittinen I tried in Mac OS X El Capitan Cmd + Zooms In and Cmd - Zooms out for me.
Can you share your settings? Can you also retry after disabling all extensions?
@bpasero Any chance some setting overrides this behavior for @mpuittinen ?
Hi!
I disabled all the plugins and tried it again. Still the same thing. CMD + zooms out CMD - comments the current line
Can this be a keyboard layout thing? I’m using a Macbook Pro with a Finnish kbd layout. Here is the menu, as you can see, no kbd shortcuts are listed for Zoom In / Out.

@mpuittinen Sorry, I should have been more clearer. What you have shared are the default settings. I meant to ask for your local settings that would have overridden these
I suspect a keyboard layout issue.
My workspace settings are empty:
// Place your settings in this file to overwrite default and user settings. { }
If you check the keyboard layout for EN vs. FI (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201794 https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201794), you see that
CMD + on a FI keyboard corresponds to CMD - on a US layout CMD - on a FI keyboard corresponds to CMD / on a US layout

What does VSCode render in the F1
list for zooming for you. Here I am doing it on Windows:
If you press the key combination rendered by VSCode, do they execute the zoom in / zoom out as advertised?
btw, further documentation regarding keyboard layouts can be found at https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/customization/keybindings#_keyboard-layouts and https://github.com/Microsoft/vscode/wiki/Troubleshooting-Keybindings
We currently do not ship different defaults based on keyboard layout. i.e. we always bind zoom in to cmd+VKEY_OEM_PLUS. We are tracking the request for it in #1240

For me on macOS Sierra. CMD+ zooms out while CMD- does nothing.
CMD [Numpad -] zooms out CMD [Numpad +] zooms in CMD [Numpad 0] does nothing CMD 0 does nothing
Using Apple fullsize keyboard with Swedish qwerty layout
I have validated that we now (i.e. after PR #22894 aka #17521 -- in today's upcoming Insiders build) appear to behave correctly for the Finnish and Swedish keyboard layouts
Pressing cmd++
and cmd+-
as labeled below in the OSX Keyboard Viewer zooms in and out:

CMD + and CMD - (on MacOS) are used in many applications to zoom in and out from the window. In VSCode, however CMD+ actually zooms out (i.e. the opposite what other apps, such as MSPowerpoint, iTerm or Chrome does).
