Focus is fixed to "Get Started" tab in a newly opened folder #157148

Type: Bug

Hi there!

I have been experiencing this specific issue for a little while now and I am not sure what could be causing it. Basically, when I open VsCode without opening a workspace or when i open a workspace for the first time, it displays the "Get Started" as usual but no matter what I do the focus keeps going back to said tab: specifically when I open the integrated terminal, or when i open "quick open" or even when I open a new tab. The issue persits until I close the first tab.

There is a setting that lets you open the README file inside the root of a project by default, but the same thing happens excepts the focus is latched onto the README Preview instead. I've had this issue for as long as I can remember by the way.

Any help would be appreciated!

Cheers, Momar

Here is what happens when I open the settings right after opening VsCode: https://share.icloud.com/photos/072MuM0P9b8wAOrjX2OnfU0WQ

I am not pressing any keys here

lramos15 commented 2 years ago

I cannot not access that photo. You also have 108 extensions installed. Can you try launching with extensions disabled via the cli you can do code --disable-extensions

lemomar commented 2 years ago

My bad, here's a permanent link The issue doesn't occur when opening apps with extensions disabled, so it's definitely because of an extension.

Thanks for the help!

vscodenpa commented 2 years ago

This issue is caused by an extension, please file it with the repository (or contact) the extension has linked in its overview in VS Code or the marketplace for VS Code. See also our issue reporting guidelines.

Happy Coding!

For anyone experiencing this issue in the future, it was caused by an extension called All Autocomplete with the AllAutocomplete.cycleOpenDocumentsOnLaunch setting set to true.

I removed the setting and that solved the issue.
