Type: Performance Issue

The program loads fine, but nothing works until I change focus to another application. This whole text is typed blind. When I have finished it, changed the focus to skype and thw whole text appears immediately. It is the latest version. The laptop also has ubuntu installed. the Ubuntu version of VSCODE works fine. Also there is a VS studio community version installed in the Win8.1, which also works fine on the Win 8.1

Thanks for reporting this issue! Unfortunately, it's hard for us to understand what issue you're seeing. Please help us out by providing a screen recording showing exactly what isn't working as expected. While we can work with most standard formats, .gif files are preferred as they are displayed inline on GitHub. You may find https://gifcap.dev helpful as a browser-based gif recording tool.

If the issue depends on keyboard input, you can help us by enabling screencast mode for the recording (Developer: Toggle Screencast Mode in the command palette).

Happy coding!

Not the best video, but you can see that nothing happens when I go to the VSCode screen. I can type but it will not appear. But when I change the focus into any other application (this time i used skype, the typed in text appears. Even the menu functions are the same: if you want to open a file, the you have to change focus constantly to get File, then Open...

It is very strange. I have installed it several times. Today was the last occasion. The program works fine on this machine with KUBUNTU.

Is it possible that some interference between the Visual Studio Community version and the VSCode is the cause. (I have tried to remove VS and install VS Code afterward, did not helped. (VS works fine) Sot I am totally helpless.

Unfortunately it's impossible to add images/video through email therefore we only see it as text [image: Recording 2022-08-17 at 21.12.15.gif]

Please add it through GitHub website

Video is available now, thanks. However it looks like you closes this issue unintentionally. If it's still relevant - please reopen issue

plajos1 commented 2 years ago

Yes it was unintentional. Have you been able to see the problem. It seems to me that the program truncated a bit of the video, but I had to find a way to save the video, because it hanged up many times. First I typed into Skype a comment then went to VSCode and typed a sentence there. Back to skype to reveal the typed in text in VSCode, then type again in VSCode a.s.o. I could not finish it because every time the screen recorder crashed, so only one cycle is recorded. I felt the some input buffer getting filled during the type into VSCode which affects all part of my laptop. (i7 16GB RAM, TaksManager tells 36% RAM usage during the process, this is not a global PC problem, but only a setting, but I was not able to find it.

Hey @deepak1556, this issue might need further attention.

Maybe this will help: given an ASUS laptop with three operating systems: W8.1, W10, Ubuntu. VSCode installed on all of them. VSCode works fine on W10 and Ubuntu. On W8.1 VSCode is "clogged": noe of the action is visible until I change the focus to another application. It could be typing, selecting in the source, or anything else it does not appear until I change the focus to another application. Even very long texts can be typed in: the program somehow stores it, but it only appears when I change the focus let say to "calculator". On this laptop on W8.1 there was a Virtual Studio COmmunity edition installation. That was working fine, but it was uninstalled. As you were not giving me any usable info I have reinstalled VS for testing if there is a problem with my W8.1 installation. VS worked fine. Uninstalling VS and reinstalling VSCode gave me the same result: clogged interface, waiting for the focus change....

This is an issue with the runtime support on Windows 8.1 and not something we can address at the moment given the EOL. Please update to a newer OS version, or if you want to use VSCode in this version then you try our remote tunnels feature https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/remote/tunnels#_getting-started
