source control slows vscode

Hi. My name is Francis Bennett. Since yesterday 12 October 2022, my vscode has been extremely slow. Whenever i make changes to a. file within a project, it takes around 5s to source control to load the changes . When it happens, the files becomes inaccessible.

Please use the Start Extension Bisect command to investigate whether the problem is being caused by one of your extensions.

I have done that but it seems that the issue is not coming from any of the extensions I have in my vscode. The default source control is the one making the vscode slow. It happens ONLY with my MacBook but it does not happen in my windows laptop

@wofakouadio, looking at the recording it is not clear to me what operation is being executed that results in "progress" being shown for the "Source Control" view.

• Are you able to reproduce this in more than one folder/workspace?
• Are you able to reproduce the problem if you start VS Code using the --disable-extensions flag?
• Could you please share the contents of the git output window?
