A option which can turn off the path hover in vscode file explorer #173236

Hi guys! Please like this post, and please vote for this feature-request! I don't need to hover to tell me the current file path, it doesn't help my project, but it's a bit of a distraction. when I try to find a file, the file path suddenly shows up. I think this is very unnecessary , I hope there is an option to turn off the hover display path.

I'm not quite sure I follow what the issue is, is it that the hover is blocking your file name?

This is specific to the file explorer section.

  1. It is visually distracting when reading the file-explorer and selecting specific files to open
  2. It does not provide helpful/useful information - in other words, it is redundant information in most cases because the bread-crumbs can show you the absolute path to the file
  3. It can often cover up other important information on the screen, such as the file name of the files below it in the explorer

It's a PITA when I'm doing a screen recording. The tooltips keep showing up and I have to edit around them and avoid putting my cursor in certain places. It's zero benefit and all downsides.

I'm not sure I fully understand your comment. Can you clarify? Does that mean the setting to turn explorer hover on/off will not make it into a stable release? Will hover text still show up in the Explorer current version?

Let's still keep this feature open because a lot of people have upvoted and want it. It's not ready yet.

Don't bother, in the beginning, I asked a lot of my friends to "like" for me, so there are so many likes. But after I used it for a while, I found that this feature is not important. I'm so sorry to trouble you!

Well, I was certainly watching and waiting. Those tooltips drive me a bit mad.
