Drag and drop from Chrome location bar does not work as expected

On Mac OS X Open Chrome to a location Drag and drop the location bar icon (the little lock that's typically to the left of the URL) onto the explorer. Nothing happens. Doing the same thing onto Finder creates a file that links back to that location so you can reopen the location later.

Even if this was supported you would still need some sort of custom viewer extension for those link files to work as expected. Here's what they look like

Well, the point is not always to view the files in vscode but rather the simple act of managing reaources within the project tree especially on remote projects where the filesystem is not locally available for drag and drop. E.g. when wanting to add such files to a repo for consumption by non UX tools.
