Search doesn't work sometimes #188233

Closed microwin7 closed 1 year ago

microwin7 commented 1 year ago

Type: Bug

I don't know the reason for this, application crashes, restart, not activating some modules correctly in VSCode or its search algorithm problem. I have a small project open now, sometimes much more. Most often, the search works properly, sometimes it turns out that it doesn’t show anything at all and either knocks out that nothing was found, or as it’s just now, the bar is walking, as if it’s looking for more, through Notepad ++ I found almost instantly the word that I’m looking for in all files in the project folder . This is not the first time the problem has appeared. Previously, even with VSCode with a remote server, there was such a problem. Sometimes just restarting VSCode helps (most often)

After restarting VSCode, I hit the retry search button and found all the results in less than 2 seconds

Do you have Search only in Open Editors enabled? What search query settings do you have?

microwin7 commented 1 year ago

No, I never turn it on. Sampling by file may or may not stand. I am looking for a line that is definitely there, after restarting all the settings entered remain and the search is then successful. Maybe there is a way to view the logs, does it search at all and what does the search stage hang on? This problem doesn't happen to me very often. 3-5 times already been for all the time

microwin7 commented 1 year ago

There are still different situations, sometimes I can just erase the line and paste it again. To start the search. This happens if I am on some other tab on the side and from the code I press Ctrl + Shift + F by selecting text. This leads to the opening of the search tab and the selected line immediately goes into the search. But it seems that this problem either just does not always happen, or when I was in the vault on the side of some plugin. In the situation above, a second search does not lead to anything, but this may also be related to the same problem.

@andreamah

Can you try with all extensions disabled?

Can you try with all extensions disabled?

Unfortunately, I can't work that way. The error does not appear so often to expect it and work without all the extensions

with this, is there a difference in whether the file is open or not? The workspace search works a little different in open files.
