Steps to reproduce

1. open VS code
2. look in view
3. look in side bar
4. slam head on desk when you can't find it
5. hope this is fixed soon! Wasted an hour looking for this...

I did reset view and its just not doing anything. This is the windows insiders build Im sure I forgot to mention. No change the explorer window just got up and left end of shit no two week notice

So it showed back up on a fresh startup. I closed this due to me thinking it was fixed with an update. I just reopened this issue as this happened again. If I don't select a folder or GitHub Repo the Explorer option is there. Once I open a folder or file > open recent > recent project folder it goes away again

My Explorer window is gone.

I have reset the views I have reinstalled.

The view is not even listed in the view menu CTRL + SHIFT + E dose nothing.

Okay so ive done this and it brings the explorer icon back but as soon as I click I can reproduce but then goes away after choose I can/cant reproduce after "Issue troubleshooting is active and has temporarily reset your configurations to defaults."

Something weird must be in your settings. Another way you can test and see what's going on is to create a new empty blank profile from the gear

Gear -> Profile -> Create Profile -> Name it something like test -> Hit create

Since an Insiders update today the "Cmd + Shift + E" shortcut stopped working for me. It is still shown as mapped to "View: Show Explorer" in the keyboard shortcut settings, but it doesn't do anything. I also can't find the "View: Show Explorer" command if I search for it, but I can find "Explorer: Focus on Folders View" which does work.

Is the "View: Show Explorer" command being removed? Maybe the default shortcut has to be updated then.

I've managed to reproduce this on a new temporary profile. The only setting you need is "workbench.activityBar.location": "hidden". After setting that you have to reload the window for the issue to appear.
