Looks like it hangs at some point and thats most likely the issue, not necessarily the execution or the like.
@munael when things hang, is it possible to share some of the logs from VS Code (have a look at the console logs Dev Tools using the command Toggle Developer Tools), if there are any please can you share them.

Not sure how execution prevents saving of notebooks

There's something else I noticed: the hang starts when I try to access a non-existent property of a variable and either auto-complete or type info hover tips get invoked, or when I try to run the cell.
Specifically, it happened when I tried to access a[b].shape but a[b] was a tuple, not a torch tensor (as I expected).
But other non-existent properties are fine 😅
Please note that the "hang" does not affect any part of the UI in the traditional way of hangs. Type tips still work, scrolling and typing work. But execution waits indefinitely, the cell with the code above stays in the waiting stage and never moved to execution.
And if you try to save nothing happens. If you try to close or restart the window or the tab, you get prompted to save or discard changes. Choosing Save shows an infinite loading modal with the option to cancel. The only option that works is to discard all changes.

Can you replicate this issue when you reload VS Code, open this notebook and start typing in that same place Or do you have to first run some code in the notebook against the kernel. Basically I'm looking for exact steps to repro this and eliminate steps like (no need to execute code, other extensions do not play a role, etc).

Noticed these warnings when it happened again today without invoking type tooltips.
