Deleting itself

I just downloaded the latest available version for Apple M1 chipset (and the same happened to darwin and universal versions as well) and after extracting and setting the app inside Applications, I can open it and work, but if I try to update itself and restart it, it deletes itself from the folder and not even goes to trash. Then I need to redo all it again, even updating the extensions in case there's some to.

Thanks for creating this issue! It looks like you may be using an old version of VS Code, the latest stable release is 1.90.0. Please try upgrading to the latest version and checking whether this issue remains.

looks like 1.90 has just been released (at least for windows), so i would check for updates again

Seeing the same behaviour, literally watched the application disappear as soon as it was manually closed.

Was previously placing the app outside the Applications directory (to avoid having to authenticate every update). Have bitten the bullet and placed in with Applications and has not deleted itself so far.

It remains the same, depending on the folder it's set/installed, it deletes itself when updating itself. I keep it outside the Applications folder (macOS 15.0.1 - M1). Running version:
