Tree Sticky Scroll does not support Touch #215462

Type: Bug

I have a Github repository folder opened in VS Code. I am on the Explorer tab.

My repo has a tree with folders & sub-folders. I use a Touchscreen laptop. I am able to tap on individual files in the list, and view/edit them in the main pane. However I cannot expand or collapse any of the folders in the folder tree, it ignores touchscreen input.

VS Code version: Code 1.89.1 (dc96b837cf6bb4af9cd736aa3af08cf8279f7685, 2024-05-07T05:13:33.891Z) OS version: Windows_NT x64 10.0.22631 Modes:

Thanks for creating this issue! It looks like you may be using an old version of VS Code, the latest stable release is 1.90.1. Please try upgrading to the latest version and checking whether this issue remains.

Happy Coding!

Updated to latest. Issue still occurs.

Small clarification on issue. It occurs when you are scrolled partway down your folder list - For lack of a better term, when the Explorer "freezes first X rows" at the top to show your current place in the tree.

When it is in "freezing first X rows mode", I can use the pointing stick to collapse/expand those "sticky" top level folders but I cannot do the same from touchscreen.

Workaround: If I manually scroll to the top of the window so that it stops "freezing the first X rows" then they become touchable.

But the desired behavior is 1:1 parity between mouse/pointer/touchpad and Touchscreen Monitor usage - e.g. being able to tap those top 'frozen' folder names to interact with them.

@benibenj Sounds like a sticky scroll problem?

benibenj commented 5 months ago

Yes, seems like tree sticky scroll does not support touch. Will have a look at it
