editor splits not working, Code (& Codium BTW), 1.90.0 and 1.90.1 #215486

Closed sjsepan3 closed 4 months ago

sjsepan3 commented 4 months ago

Does this issue occur when all extensions are disabled?: Yes

Issue is still present in Insider edition: Version: 1.90.1 Commit: 611f9bfce64f25108829dd295f54a6894e87339d Date: 2024-06-11T21:02:43.666Z Electron: 29.4.0 ElectronBuildId: 9593362 Chromium: 122.0.6261.156 Node.js: 20.9.0 V8: 12.2.281.27-electron.0 OS: Linux x64 5.15.0-112-generic

Describe the bug After Release 1.89.1 (this now includes both 1.90.0 and 1.90.1) the View->Editor Layout->Split [Up|Down|Left|Right] menus no longer have any effect. (This is true for both Code and Codium)

Please confirm that the issue/resolution isn't already documented I checked after 1.90.0, and saw no mention of the issue. I retested with 1.90.1 and it is still present. Removing either and re-installing 1.89.1 or earlier resolves the issue.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. open any content
  2. View->Editor Layout->Split [Up|Down|Left|Right] menus
  3. See no splits appear

Expected behavior selected splits should appear.

I believe I fixed a problem last Friday which also fixed this. This should work again in our newest Insiders build. In the meantime you can still use the split feature by right clicking on a tab

I didn't know about that work-around before, but that does work on the broken version -- Thanks!

Trying the Insider's version next...

UPDATE: @benibenj , Yes, I downloaded code-insiders_1.91.0-1718361383_amd64.deb and it works!
