Hide split editor pane #216706

I'd like the ability to hide split editor panes.

Sometimes when working on a feature request I get called to a really important bug fix. What I'd like to ask is that when I create a split new editor pane, there could be a button to "hide to the side" similar to what happens with the Activity Bar.

So this way I could open the new relevant tabs/files in a new split editor pane and hide the others while they're not being used but still keeping every relevant file/tab opened for that feature request.

Does https://code.visualstudio.com/updates/v1_84#_maximize-editor-group help you?

Almost there. It doesnt allow me to select one pane to be hidden. Id does the opposite, it allows one pane to appear.

I, for one, have an Ultra-Wide monitor, and I like to sometimes have two panes opened. But I'd still like for a third pane (with the tabs for other things) to be hidden temporarily.
