On the Welcome page, under Recent, indicate which windows are already open #228987

Type: Feature Request

I work on a lot of different things at once. When I open VSCode, the Welcome screen shows "Recent" workspaces and directories. I never know which ones I already have open. (I check out the same repo multiple times, so I have multiple workspaces.)

Often times, when I click on one of the Recent items, instead of opening it, it reveals an existing VSCode window, sometimes in a different desktop workspace. Then I need to go back to the initial VSCode window with the Welcome screen, and try a different one.

This is a minor annoyance, but it would be solved with a minor indicator of whether an item under Recent is already open in a VSCode window somewhere. That would just be chef's kiss.
