different menu commands when in narrow mode

Type: Bug

Normally when I want to access the top menu I just press "alt" followed by the corresponding menu letter. When I have vs code set to 50% of my screen size (viewing 2 documents side by side), pressing "alt" only shows a hamburger menu. Pressing a letter doesn't open the corresponding menu, but types into the text window. For example, I've gotten used to enabling word wrap by just pressing [alt] then [v] then [w]. Normally this works but when in narrow mode it just types "vw" into my file.
