VScode hangs when adjusting the terminal height #36007

Closed bitcoinvsalts closed 7 years ago

Steps to Reproduce:

Can you describe when the hang happens? What project are you working on when this happens? Do you see a process that consumes a lot of CPU when this happens?

VS Code creates multiple processes, each with different tasks. Depending on your OS you can get at the full command line of the process and paste it here. On Mac, the Activity Monitor allows to find the PID of the process and from a terminal ps aux | grep <pid> reveals its arguments.

On Windows a tool like Process Explorer helps:

Once you have the information please update this issue with it. Thanks!

egamma commented 7 years ago

When this happens could you create a CPU Profile and attach it to this issue? Here is how to do it:

Hit F1 > Toggle Developer Tools. In the overflow menu (see below) select 'More Tools > JavaScript Profiler'. In there select start, let it profile for 30 to 60 seconds, stop it, save it to a file and attach the file here.

not too much the cpu more the memory

I am developing an expo.io project on Windows 10

this usually happens when I try to enlarge the height of the terminal

bitcoinvsalts commented 7 years ago

any update on this, this issue slows down my development

@jsappme are you suggesting memory limits are being hit on your machine?

Are you increasing the height by dragging the terminal panel's sash to be larger? What happens when it "hangs" exactly? Does the entire program lock up and need to be restarted? Does the terminal lock up and need to be restarted? Does the system stutter briefly before resuming as normal?

bitcoinvsalts commented 7 years ago

I am increasing the terminal height by clicking on the arrow up button ( > but direction up)

When it hangs I cannot do nothing with the window anymore I need to restart the whole thing

but sometimes it does resume by itselft after waiting some time

@jsappme can you share your settings.json file?

bitcoinvsalts commented 7 years ago

{ "terminal.integrated.shell.windows": "C:\WINDOWS\System32\cmd.exe", "git.enableSmartCommit": true }
