Breadcrumbs Option Bottom of Editor

Please add the option to place breadcrumbs at the bottom of the editor. Coming from Intellij where the breadcrumbs are located closer towards the bottom, i'm having to retrain my eyes to look up.

I often read from top to bottom, and constantly have to jump back to the top if I want to quickly glance at the breadcrumbs. Probably not a big deal for everyone, however I figured at least a position option would be nice to have.

I like to have the breadcrumbs displayed (particularly in a large codebase). However, since this is currently at the top, it seems to be contributing to poor ergonomics and neck pain.

Also breadcrumbs are too long showing file path along with symbols. I also trying to switch back to vscode after a year of intellij experience and i got used to file path at top , and only symbols at bottom. No way i can do same in vscode :(

This is also my wish to be able to place at the bottom of the editor. Even more I like the idea of @AntonGrekov, where the path breadcrumb and the code structure breadcrumb are separate.

I would've thought this would be nice to have at the bottom, but at the top it is too distracting. Top of the screen is valuable real estate, it's where my eyes return to.

it would help us the ones migrate from jetbrains IDEs. i would really prefer it on the bottom and should be configurable. please consider re-open.

@jrieken Any chance this can be reconsidered now? There's been a decent amount of upvotes and good implementation ideas in this thread. Having a line on top just for the breadcrumb as it is, is a waste of vertical space whereas inside the status bar at the bottom (like it is for Jetbrains IDEs) combines and solve both problems elegantly.

tragic lack of native config options for status bar breadcrumbs. There's a deprecated extension out there that does work though but it chews real estate on the bar and you will need to hack its code a bit to make it less obtrusive
