Can't publish extension: Extension validation error #997

Closed js8544 closed 1 month ago

js8544 commented 2 months ago

Does this issue occur when all extensions are disabled?: Yes/No

When I publish a new version of my extension, vsce says publish successfully, but the management portal says:

Extension validation error

Something went wrong, please retry after sometime.

I'm also facing the same. Can't re-upload the same version.

Same issue, I thought there is something off with packaging, deps, invalid file in the extension, but it turns out it is server side issue. at least communicate a proper error. come on Microsoft.

oreshytko commented 2 months ago

Same from our side

I still see error status below the version column.

clicking on the error shows the following modal.

For us, we had to upload a new version and skip the failed version, I don't think any new version uploaded during the above timeframe will come back at this time out of the error state.

What do you mean by new version? did you bump your extension patch/minor version? I'm unable to update the extension with the same semantic version. which makes sense. do I need to bump patch version for a bogus reason? so I can update my extension?

nagilson commented 2 months ago

Ya, you do need to bump it. I would just bump it and say a version was missed due to a vs code marketplace outage

jblievremont commented 2 months ago

Could someone from the marketplace team please give an answer on this thread about how to re-validate a published version?

Forcing extension publishers to deploy a patch release due to a marketplace service error is not the greatest UX.

Thank you for contacting the VS Marketplace Support Team and informing us about the issue. We believe the underlying cause has now been resolved. Please give it a try again.
