Single left click on folder to display subfolders, in left pane. #342

Left clicking on a folder displays the folder contents and sub folders in the right pane.

Double left clicking the same folder displays the subfolders in the left pane.

As much as this might sound like Heresy/breakign with tradition etc : A single left click on a folder can display the sub folders!

Why would you want this? Speed. It is much faster to browse through folders that have sub folders if you do not have to double click every single time you open one. ( No "expand branch" is not useful here. It opens all folders etc = Chaos. this is very bad. )

In win 7 etc you can do this by clicking on the -+ next to the folder. But this is actually annoying as the -+ is quite small and you have to snipe it with the mouse. No good!

Obviously this would have to be a toggle able feature.
Or an option in WinFile.Ini

Ps. To close a folder you simply single left click on it again. Too easy!

The current behavior is standard for Winfile and many other other filemanagers on Windows since ages, so I doubt we will change this.

Yes that is it but I am not sure how you are doing it.

I can do it by expanding the windows folder then scrolling down a bit, then closing the windows folder. The tree snaps back to the top and the windows folder is not under my mouse pointer...

What I would like to see happen is the widows folder closes and stays under the mouse pointer. Like it does IF you do not scroll down ..

The "tweaking" of the GUI to make it perform better is not heresy. MS were particularly bad at making mature designed UI and still to this day are fumbling around like idiots. So, just because it's always been like that and everyone else does it this way, well, you are an intelligent person and understand what this means.

Here is a design ideal:

Things do not visually jump around. ( it is visually disturbing AND causes loss of focus on the thing at hand )

As I have already mentioned: Some people would consider you a hero for attacking these abominations. ( I am happy to casually bath in the reflected glory etc )

People who have to deal with extreme foldering will be impressed.

You have made a good assault on this issue, now finish the job!
