You're trying to install a zipped installer which is supported in WinGet versions >= 1.4. Updating to the latest version of WinGet from GitHub Releases or updating the App Installer Package from MS Store should resolve the issue.

JeffMill commented 1 year ago

I had installed from Windows Store, and checked, and I'm up-to-date (v1.3.2691). Maybe store hasn't gotten 1.4 yet?

In any case, can this error message be improved? It's non-obvious.

Thanks.

cc @denelon Looks like App Installer hasn't been updated on MS Store

denelon commented 1 year ago

WinGet 1.4 was flighted via App Installer 1.19.10173 near the end of January.

JeffMill commented 1 year ago

JeffMill commented 1 year ago

I'm not sure. Let me reach out to one of my contacts on the Microsoft Store team to see what would help.
