[MGTP-Editor-Mgt -agenda -Docs page]: Screen reader is announcing information as ‘Group’ instead ‘Position’ for user profile list items. #3080

Test Environment: OS Build: Windows 11  Version: 24H2 (OS Build 26058.1400)  Browser: Edge dev  Browser Version 123.0.2400.1 (Official build) dev (64-bit) URL: Overview - Docs ⋅ Storybook (mgt.dev) Screen reader: narrator

Repro Steps:

  1. Open the above URL
  2. Turn on narrator.
  3. The ‘Microsoft Graph Toolkit Playground' Overview page will get displayed.
  4. Navigate to the ‘Mgt -agenda’ and activate it.
  5. Navigate to the ‘Docs’ and activate it.
  6. Navigate to the ‘people profile icon’ control using tab key
  7. Observe the issue.

Actual Result: Screen reader is announcing information as ‘Group’ instead ‘Position’ for user profile list items.

Expected Result: Screen reader should announce ‘Position’ for user profile list items instead ‘group’.

Observation: NVDA doesn’t announce position.

User Impact: Screen reader users will get impacted as users will have difficulty in identifying the purpose and in tracking or in interacting with the content if position not announce for list items.

Position not announce for list item

@Raisul123 Is this a case where Narrator needs to have scan mode turned off to replicate the issue? Please ensure that all reproduction steps are clearly listed to assist us in more quickly reproducing the issues,

Hi @gavinbarron ,

We have verified the issue in scan mode using up/down navigation and observed that the narrator's focus is moving to the user profile icon control multiple times and in the first navigation it announces the correct information and in the second navigation it announces the information as 'Group' .
