XBMC and Linux: LEDs are off in true fullscreen mode #332

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Boot up Debian (or Ubuntu) distribution of Linux
2. Run X11 and a window manger, e.g. MATE or Gnome
3. Run Prismatik software (the LEDs switch on and track the screen colours
nicely)
4. Run XBMC configured in true fullscreen (the LEDs switch off) and play a
video file (the LEDs stay off).
Note A: XBMC Lightpack plugin is running and communicating with Prismatic as
expected.
Note B: If XBMC is configured in windowed mode then the LEDs a coloured
correctly.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect Prismatik to track the colours in fullscreen XBMC and pass this info
to the controller to switch the LEDs accordingly. Instead all the LEDs switch
off. It looks like a Prismatik sees a black screen, not an actual picture.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Prismatik 5.9.6, Linux Mint Debian Edition 13, XBMC 12 Frodo, Lightpack plugin
1.0.6

This issue has been discussed back in January on this forum:
http://adafruit.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=47&p=197159#p197007

and timsat mentioned there is a solution to this issue, which will be released
soon. I am not sure if that solution made its way to the current release or it
is still work in progress.

Ops, the discussion in that forum was just a week ago, not in January (looked
wrong place). So, I guess this is still work in progress. If there is a
beta-version and testers are needed for the this issue solution - I am happy to
help.
