I have a few slight differences to this, which I'll describe below. But I too
have a device that's reporting its
firmware as 0.0 is Prismatik 5.10.6
(My OS is also Win 8.1 x64).
I do get some lights coming on, but only a low red glow. They don't respond to
screen changes on Screen Grab mode, and
if I choose another colour (say #aaffff) and Mood lamp it's the same red glow.
If I click "Turn lights OFF" they go off, and vice versa when I turn the lights
back on.
I've restarted, unplugged and replugged. Flip seemed to work as per the
instructions and it reported I'd flashed the
firmware to the latest version.
(I got my device some months ago after being very excited, but that was just as
my son was born and a few things have
conspired to mean I only got the time to install it today).
Cheers.

Actually we have the same problem.
Red dots are there and I can turn them off via Prismatik too.
Good to know I'm not alone. :)
I tried using even an Android device, it detects lightpack but it can't still
turn leds on, so I can't exclude those could be hardware related issues.

Ah, and I've just made some progress. Quite a lot, but not everything.
I don't know if you're issue is related, but it would be great if it's this
simple for you too:
I didn't realise that Lighpack tries to draw power from USB. I was seeing those
red lights, but hadn't noted that power switch had got turned off so it was
_just_ trying to draw power from USB.
That's allowed the lights to start working at their low level, but with power
turned on (!) they now change and respond as a quick blast on Planetside 2
attests!
So, I'm perhaps a lucky one.
However, despite restarting my computer and running Prismatik in admin it still
shows the firmware as 0.0.
So close, but not quite all there. One thing I still need to try (but may only
try tomorrow) is running Flip as admin. I'm not seeing any issues reported by
Flip, but perhaps that's the problem.

I just love you! :D
I was using a damaged plug, just switched to another socket and led turned on.
This issue is solved.
