In Android 2.2, a bug was fixed for the majority of phones (excluding HTC
Desire, for instance)

Once I have a reliable way to automatically determine that the above bug is
present on a device and then make sure the screen is forced on overnight, I'll
consider porting it down to 2.1. I probably won't bother porting it down to 1.6
because of API changes and a decreasing number of 1.6 devices out there in the
wild, but who knows I might go crazy!

pushed out an update to market that will attempt to isolate this bug's
existence on devices. depending on how well it does its job, I can start
back-porting to 2.1 soon

ElectricSleep will be available for Android 2.1 and up. This should just about
double its current market visibility. I will not develop for 1.5 (due to
incompatibility), but 1.6 is still a possibility, seeing as it makes up 10% of
the android market still.
