What is the procedure for migrating twister to a new machine? #401

Open sylmobile opened 7 years ago

sylmobile commented 7 years ago

I have twister installed and operational on a machine running Ubuntu 14.04 64bit.

I have set up a new machine, restoring my environment from backup and updated to 16.04. Under either OS version, twister isn't working.

An attempt to launch gives an error: "error opening database environment Corruption: bad record length"

Any tips, or other diagnostics I need to share to progress this?

Thank you.

How did you backup and restore twister? e.g. folders?

Hi @photonxp, I used system backup utility and restore back to the original folder locations.

Hi @sylmobile, I just moved mine to a new machine, from the version on my laptop that was current as of december 2016. On my new computer, I installed twister-core from git, copied the old .twister directory from my laptop to my home directory, and then used git to download the HTML directory that needs to be present in the .twister directory (no idea why it wasn't there before, maybe due to a version change).

This was from Ubuntu 16.04 32bit to OpenSuse Tumbleweed 20170605 64bit .

So far no problems. My profile is there, together with all the stuff i "follow". The blockchain said it was 60something days old and proceeded to update successfully.
