This is not good. Would not be it to be continued better the project on GitLab?

Serkan-devel commented 6 years ago

Wouldn't it be better to use it on git-ssb instead? It's open source and decentralized

miguelfreitas commented 6 years ago

What is the threat model you are concerned about?

Serkan-devel commented 6 years ago

Maybe they change their TOS to let Microsoft use anything without restrictions, more data collection, or even more microsoft integration which might not be that beneficial

Serkan-devel commented 6 years ago

The GNOME project switched to Gitlab already

miguelfreitas commented 6 years ago

Changing their TOS may never override the license of our own code. That doesn't make sense in terms of copyright law, it would be like the museum owner saying that he is now the author of the works exposed... even the borrowed ones! ;-)

Serkan-devel commented 6 years ago

But everything else could

ghost commented 6 years ago

Properly. It is not for me also about the code. He has the respective licence.

Rather it is for me about Microsoft directly. Now more data are stored definitively. There it comes for users to difficulties can come to get if, for example, also possible Ip's with the "git pull" etc. in wrong hands.

And if one has a look at Skype, this stands in the complete contrast to Twister. For the purposes of the mind of Twister it would make sense to change.

This as a thought.

Something like git-ssb would make more sense for the project https://git.scuttlebot.io/%256nsHTcWJ3IuXPiFSr4lz3NEROnHGQEu36kjYHTKrWes%3D.sha256/blob/73b4b7d083757d91a5151c23eacbe9c6ae615ebf/volume-0/git-ssb/index.md

The substantial if not the majority of code on Github isn't licensed, so they can do it somewhat
