Google Groups: Existing member "disappears" / cannot add a new member if address is associated with a Google account which is already a member of the Group #452

I am Owner of a Google Group. Two different scenarios seem to lead to same 
problem. This problem appears to have manifested recently.

For an address which is Alternate or Recovery Address in a Google Account which 
is already a member of a Google Group:

1) Existing Group member stopped receiving emails and disappeared from All 
Members.
2) Cannot add new member to Group.

In both cases, trying to add the address to the Group yields "address already a 
member".

Example 1: FirstAddress@yahoo.com has been a member of Google Group for years.  
OtherAddress@juno.com becomes business partner of FirstAddress and I add her to 
the Google Group.  Both receive emails from Google Group for months, until 
recently. Now FirstAddress is not receiving emails from Group. Now FirstAddress 
no longer appears in "All Members" list on Manage page.

After some diagnosis, I realize that OtherAddress has FirstAddress attached to 
her Google Account as Althernate Address or Recovery Address.

Example 2: While diagnosing Example 1 (the original problem), I discover that I 
cannot add an address to the Group which I have set as Alternate and Recovery 
Address in my Google Account.

After removing the address from my Google Account, I can add the address to the 
Google Group.

Seems to me that I should be able to have two addresses subscribed to the same 
Google Group if I wish.

Seems to me that an existing member should not just "disappear" from the group 
and stop receiving postings.

I am having the same issue! It's a big problem for me because I am managing a 
group for a club and as the officers change and their club emails are passed on 
to the new ones I cannot add the new officers to the group!

Same issue here. User was getting email. Then he dropped from the groups list I 
had setup. In the logs of google apps, it does show the user getting added. 
But, when an email is sent to the group the user does not receive the email... 

Was there any resolution to this?

No resolution to this problem, since Google does not care about... This "is" 
their customer service when you have bug troubles...
