Looked around and could see no clear APIs defined for this. Created a forum thread asking for help: https://forums.ankiweb.net/t/is-there-a-way-to-create-a-card-from-a-web-app/10825

No obvious ideas have come up. Seems like a lot of extra work for a web app for marginal gains.
