So far, this is what the email to all attendees says. If you want to add anything please let me know before the end of the day.

Get Ready!
NodeConf 2013 is just around the corner.
This year we're doing hands-on sessions that will give you some real experience with the topics covered.

Before you show up at the ranch you'll need to have a few things ready on your laptop.

1) install the latest version of node.js from http://www.nodejs.org/
2) npm install nodeconf2013
3) login to GitHub and fork https://github.com/joyent/node and follow the instructions to clone it locally
4) verify that you can build node.js locally by running ./configure && make && make install
or vcbuild.bat on Windows

Should you specify latest stable release?

Walker Creek Ranch is beautiful but it is remote. There is no cell phone reception and while the camp does have wireless and a respectable number of internets it wasn't built for 320+ programmers and all their devices so connectivity is expected to be spotty at best.

All of your food allergies and dietary restrictions have been taken in to account and worked in to the menu. Some of the vegetarian meals may be held in the kitchen to avoid being eaten by non-vegetarian attendees so ask someone in food service at each meal if there isn't anything obvious out that you can eat.

Buses will leave on June 27th from Joyent's office in downtown San Francisco at One Embarcadero Center, 9th Floor. You can arrive as early as 10am. The first bus leaves at 11am and the second at 1pm and the third at 3pm. No transport will leave later than 3pm. There will be lots of activities happening at the camp so the earlier you get in the better :)

Because of the un-traditional venue and session format NodeConf will not be filmed like most conferences. Instead, you should notice one or two people filming NodeConf in a documentary style. You may be asked questions about your experience and you should feel free to stop and talk to the photographers about what you think of the conference and node.js any time you see them. If you don't want to be filmed just mention this to the photographers and they'll accommodate you.

This conference couldn't have happened without the support of our sponsors: Nodejitsu, Walmart Labs, Voxer, Window Azure, Joyent, &yet, New Relic, Engine Yard and ^lift. Each of them have contributed a noticeable part of the experience which you'll hear about during the conference.
