Thanks for the post, but to help, a good deal more information is needed.
For example: What kind of hardware and OS? What version of Shairport Sync? Did Shairport Sync ever work on this system? Did you follow the guide at BUILD.md, and if so, how far did you get?
If you could follow the issue reporting template -- maybe even raise a new issue if necessary -- that would also be a big help, thanks.
Built on Ubuntu 20.04, on a RPi 4(I think...). shairport is the most recent version. It did work before I reinstalled to add --with-metadata flag. I fully completed the build.md file
Super, thanks. The --with-metadata
flag shouldn't cause any particular problems.
A thing to try is to stop the Shairport Sync daemon and try instead to run it from the command line:
$ sudo systemctl stop shairport-sync
$ shairport-sync -v
Make sure the volume is turned up on the output device and let us know if you hear anything when you play, maybe also post the log?
apologies for the last response, been very busy recently. I tried that, still no audio. i get a warning, which is weird because they are both fresh installs.
*warning: This version of Shairport Sync is not compatible with the installed version of NQPTP. Please update.
to add on, im sure it can help. here is the nqptp -V
Version: 1.1-dev-171-gad384f9. Shared Memory Interface Version: 8.
Solved! Needed a restart for NQPTP after an install. I must have already had it before!
Glad you got it sorted out!
What happened?
Very weird issue. I have no audio output from Shairport, but only Shairport. I ran a alsa sound test, and was perfectly fine. I'm able to connect fine as well. Playing from iPhone, homepod, and mac did not work.
