Import illustrations #11

Currently these are in different repos (general presentations repo and vv writing repo); can import these commits into this repo and use as the basis for further revisions for the manuscript.

The experiment diagrams are in https://github.com/mikemc/vivo-vitro/tree/main/illustrations as of c9166ee. I'll leave this issue open to consider also importing the conceptual illustrations from my UBC seminar (slides)
