We're scientists, we can handle a little LaTeX. But I find writing things out in TeX syntax results in a larger fraction of my time spent typing commands and things versus just typing out my thoughts. In other words, the LaTeX is getting in the way of my flow. Ultimately, I think we are stuck with LaTeX for the final pre-compile format if we want to have reasonable figure and math support. But I was thinking it would be neat if we could type up our notes in the excellent markdown. We could then either write a converter for latex, or just grab some pre-existing code and hack it in. What do you think of that idea?
