Adding new data #2

Hi,

I would like to enlarge the dataset. Will this be possibile? Do you have any standardization in place for this procedure? Or at least a checklist on how to organize the data?

Thanks.

Best, Matteo

Hi Matteo,

Sounds like a great idea. I definitely think it's possible and relevant to expand the dataset, although the specific sensors and data types would probably be different than the existing. Have you already acquired data yourself? And do you have a specification of the recording setup you are going to use, including which sensors (RGB/stereo/thermal cameras, lidar, radar, IMU, GPS, ...) and what scenarios (agricultural fields, orchards, ...) you will cover?

I may be able to make a checklist of how we have organized the data, although most of the information is actually already available in the rosbags that we provide. Depending on the sensor setup and recordings, your data might be stored in a similar way, so that others can easily apply their methods on both data subsets without too much effort.

Best regards, Mikkel

Hi all.

Sorry for jumping in into the conversation. I have been working with the dataset, and I have found it really useful. And I have been thinking as well somehow extended it. It is great to have a great array of sensors been recorded at the same time. I will like to contribute, as well, if an agreement is found.

Regarding the last comment, I agree all the data is available in the same rosbag but due to its size is hard to handle, maybe for the future would be great to spread the data and record multiple rosbag files.

Hi @mikkelkh ,

Sorry if I get back to you just now, I missed your reply.. Basically, I am planning to get the data in the near future and I would like to know if we can have any kind of checklist on data recording/formatting. It will be great if we can stick to some format.

I am definitely planning to use "common sensors" (e.g. lidar, stereocameras, imu, etc..) but still not sure if I will add more. Therefore, we should find a common way for uploading/labeling the data both for "known" sensors and "future" sensors when planning on this checklist.

Moreover, I agree with @jcmayoral that a bag might become too big. Can we do something else?

Let me know.

Best, Matteo
