I have a complicated setup with Voicemeeter Banana and route my audio into a virtual input and have voicemeeter send the audio over HDMI to my TV.

Unless I have the default audio device set in Windows as my HDMI, MilkDrop3 didn't seem to react to any audio. Is there a way to tell it to listen to my virtual input?

ClaireCJS commented 8 months ago

I'd like this too.

My basement plays music via a cable run from a computer upstairs. The only way to "listen" is to use the microphone. Is MilkDrop listening to my microphone?

ClaireCJS commented 8 months ago

Just tried it out. Nope. It isn't. Geeze. So it's a lifeless screensaver?

I'm working on that. Or you can try to use a virtual audio cable

Any news on the audio functionality or when the new release of MilkDrop 3 is coming?

milkdrop2077 commented 7 months ago

the audio functionality works on v3.30, it's available on my patreon and buymeacoffee. I'm not sure when exactly I'll push the audio update to the public version, probably later this year

I can't get it to respond at all, so some audio settings would be nice to try to troubleshoot. Excited to find this, and good job working to bring this classic back! Looking good so far (without audio response). When I can get a functioning version I'll certainly at least buy you a coffee, but I'm hesitant in case v3.30 still doesn't work for some reason..

I bought 3.25Plus and selected my headphones as output device (should be silent because i don't play anything there) and it told me to restart milkdrop which i did. The settings.ini contains "AudioDeviceSelected=Realtek HD Audio 2nd output (Realtek(R) Audio)" correctly but the "Audio" menu is still showing "Auto" and the display happily moves about the music on my first output even though the 2nd output is perfectly silent. I have Windows 10 and running as administrator didn't help. Also, I'd rather have ability for milkdrop to listen to a RECORDING device (like for example it was possible with linein:// in winamp), which would work for streamers as well, instead of WASAPI-Loopback-Hacking itself to the PLAYBACK device which is nice for everybody else. Btw you didn't even need to make a device selection menu showing every device because you can select input and output device per application in "App volume and device preferences" in Windows (which also didn't work with the current version).

I can't close voicemeeter, the reason for your product to be able to use different output device is precicely because i want to use the voicemeeter device instead of the standard device because that's where my audio is.
