Thanks for looking at this. Those are cool suggestions, but the amount of work involved sounds significant (it introduces quite some gui-code, as well as splitting up the current documenation into 2 versions, which need to be updated seperately from then on...not something I would recommend given milkytracker's developer resources)

Before we zoom into your suggestions, can you give us a timeframe for all this? (as it is not something I can facilitate because of bandwidth constraints) Until then, I think this little PR is a huge step forward for the end-user, since there is zero help in the application. I would love to see the PR you're describing, or even in-place help (text appearing when hovering buttons or pattern effects e.g.), but given the current state and activity of milkytracker development, i think we should not prioritize fictional features over small (working) PR's like this. I agree with the text can be optimized a bit, but to me it's not a musthave, but a nicetohave to me.
