Here we list the mistakes which we can carefully analyse and avoid.

std::vector<bool>
iostreams
assumption that the strings are sequences of characters
std::string bloated interface + overreliance on indexes. A slice-based interface would be superior.
difficulty in creating new collections

better naming
unordered_map/unordered_set requiring "buckets"
let the seed functions of RNGs take a generator and not a single value unless you wrap that single value or multiple values in a key strengthening generator.
