+
+Branding Guidelines | Rating Guidelines | Program Policies | User Data FAQ | Developer Agreement
+
+The developer program policies listed below play an important role in maintaining a positive experience for everyone using Chrome Web Store. These policies apply to the entire user experience of your application/extension/theme, unless otherwise noted.
+
+Please be aware that these policies pertain to your software, content, and digital materials created for use in connection with Google Chrome and distributed via the Chrome Web Store, including applications, extensions, and themes, as well as any ads bundled or made available through the product. These policies have the same meaning as in the Google Chrome Web Store Developer Agreement. There are additional quality guidelines that apply to Chrome Apps and Chrome Extensions. Be sure to check back from time to time, as these policies may change.
+
+Content Policies
+
+Our content policies apply to your Product's content, including any ads it shows to users and any user-generated content it hosts or links to. Further, they apply to any content from your developer account that is publicly displayed in Chrome Web Store, including your developer name and the landing page of your listed developer website. Products that include content that may not be suitable for all ages should be marked "Mature" on the Developer Dashboard.
+
+Sexually Explicit Material:
+
+We don't allow content that contains nudity, graphic sex acts, sexually explicit material, or content that drives traffic to commercial pornography sites. We also don't allow content that promotes incest, bestiality, necrophilia, or non-consensual sexual acts. Google has a zero-tolerance policy against child pornography. If we become aware of content with child pornography, we will report it to the appropriate authorities and delete the Google Accounts of those involved with the distribution. Content which contains non-sexual nudity - such as artistic, educational, scientific, or cultural nudity - is generally allowed, but may impact the visibility of your Product.
+
+Violent or Bullying Behavior:
+
+Depictions of gratuitous violence are not allowed. Products should not contain materials that threaten, harass, or bully other users. For example, Products should not contain:
+
+Content which makes a specific threat of serious harm against an individual person or a defined group of people.
+Content whose predominant purpose is to single out another person for abuse, malicious attack, or ridicule. Content that results in the unwanted sexualization of a person, including malicious claims about a person's sexual activities, sexual orientation, or gender identity.* A series of posts/comments/photos that, taken together, clearly have the primary intention of harassment, even if each individual piece of content is not severe.
+Hate Speech:
+
+We don't allow content advocating against or inciting hatred towards groups of people based on their race or ethnic origin, religion, disability, gender, age, veteran status, nationality, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, or any other characteristic that is associated with systematic discrimination or marginalization.
+
+Additionally, the visibility of your Product may be impacted if it contains generally hateful content not covered by the above definition.
+
+Violent Extremism:
+
+We remove content that recruits, fundraises, or promotes violence on behalf of extremist groups defined by the US State Department and other international organizations. Violent extremism is defined as the use of violence and intimidation in the pursuit of political aims or goals outside of societal norms.
+
+Impersonation or Deceptive Behavior:
+
+Don't pretend to be someone else, and don't represent that your product is authorized by, endorsed by, or produced by another company or organization, if that is not the case. Developers should not divert users or provide links to any other site that mimics Chrome Web Store or passes itself off as Chrome Web Store. Your Product and its user experience also must not mimic functionality or warnings from a user's operating system or browser. Any changes to device settings must be made with the user's knowledge and consent and be easily reversible by the user.
+
+We do not allow products which deceive or mislead users, including in the content, title, description, or screenshots.
+
+Don't misrepresent the functionality of your product or include non-obvious functionality that doesn't serve the primary purpose of the product. Descriptions of your product must directly state the functionality so that users have a clear understanding of the product they are adding. For example, products should not contain:
+
+Claimed functionalities which are not possible to implement (e.g. "Who has viewed your IG account")
+Developer or product names which misrepresent their current status or performance on the Chrome Web Store (e.g. "Editor's Choice" or "Number One")
+
+If your product has a blank description field or is missing an icon or screenshots, it will be rejected. If any of your product's content, title, icon, description or screenshots contains false or misleading information, we may remove it.
+
+Featured Products:
+
+The Chrome Web Store features products that align with our standards, values, and that we believe will produce valuable user experiences. Certain products that don't meet these standards, but which do not explicitly violate CWS policies - such as VPN extensions and Video Downloaders - may be restricted from feature in the Store, but will still be available to users. For example, the following products are currently not featured in the CWS Store:
+
+Religious or political content
+VPNs
+Video Downloaders
+Anti-Virus tools
+Content deemed not family friendly
+Bots
+Cryptocurrency
+Non-production builds
+Prohibited products
+Gambling content
+Extensions whose developers have questionable reputations, such as historically misleading or malicious extensions.
+Intellectual Property:
+
+Don't infringe on the intellectual property rights of others, including patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright, and other proprietary rights. We will respond to clear notices of alleged copyright infringement. For more information or to file a DMCA request, use this tool. Additionally, the visibility of your Product may be impacted if we believe it potentially infringes on intellectual property rights.
+
+Illegal Activities:
+
+Keep it legal. Don't engage in or promote unlawful activities in your product, such as rape, illegal sex work, or the sale of prescription drugs without a prescription.. We will remove content which promotes, glorifies, or encourages dangerous or illegal activity that may result in physical harm to those involved.
+
+Gambling:
+
+We don't allow content or services that facilitate online gambling, including but not limited to online casinos, sports betting, lotteries, or games of skill that offer prizes of cash or other value.
+
+Regulated Goods and Services
+
+We do not allow the facilitation of the sale of regulated Products or services. Regulated goods include pharmaceuticals, alcohol, tobacco, fireworks, weapons, gambling or health/medical devices.
+
+Malicious Products:
+
+Don't transmit viruses, worms, defects, Trojan horses, malware, or any other products of a destructive nature. We don't allow content that harms or interferes with the operation of the networks, servers, or other infrastructure of Google or any third-parties. Spyware, malicious scripts, and phishing scams are also prohibited in the Chrome Web Store.
+
+Code Readability Requirements:
+
+Developers must not obfuscate code or conceal functionality of their extension. This also applies to any external code or resource fetched by the extension package. Minification is allowed, including the following forms:
+
+Removal of whitespace, newlines, code comments, and block delimiters
+Shortening of variable and function names
+Collapsing files together
+Additional Requirements for Manifest V3:
+
+Extensions using Manifest V3 must meet additional requirements related to the extension's code. Specifically, the full functionality of an extension must be easily discernible from its submitted code. This means that the logic of how each extension operates should be self contained. The extension may reference and load data and other information sources that are external to the extension, but these external resources must not contain any logic.
+
+Some common violations include:
+
+Including a <script> tag that points to a resource that is not within the extension's package
+
+Using JavaScript's eval() method or other mechanisms to execute a string fetched from a remote source
+
+Building an interpreter to run complex commands fetched from a remote source, even if those commands are fetched as data
+
+Communicating with remote servers for certain purposes is still allowed. For instance,
+
+Syncing user account data with a remote server
+
+Fetching a remote configuration file for A/B testing or determining enabled features, where all logic for the functionality is contained within the extension package
+
+Fetching remote resources that are not used to evaluate logic, such as images
+
+Performing server-side operations with data (such as for the purposes of encryption with a private key)
+
+If our reviewers are unable to determine the full functionality of your extension during the review process, we may reject your submission or remove it from the store.
+
+Prohibited Products:
+
+We don't allow products or services that:
+
+Facilitate unauthorized access to content on websites, such as circumventing paywalls or login restrictions
+Encourage, facilitate, or enable the unauthorized access, download, or streaming of copyrighted content or media
+Mine cryptocurrency
+Security Vulnerabilities
+
+If your product is associated with a security vulnerability that could be exploited to compromise another application, service, browser, or system, we may remove your product from the Chrome Web Store and take other measures to protect users. In such an event, you may be contacted about remediation steps required to restore the product.
+
+Deceptive Installation Tactics
+
+Extensions must be marketed responsibly. Extensions that use or benefit from deceptive installation tactics will be removed from the Chrome Web Store.
+
+Deceptive installation tactics include:
+
+Unclear or inconspicuous disclosures on marketing collateral preceding the Chrome Web Store product listing.
+Misleading interactive elements as part of your distribution flow. This includes misleading call-to-action buttons or forms that imply an outcome other than the installation of an extension.
+Adjusting the Chrome Web Store product listing window with the effect of withholding or hiding extension metadata from the user.
+
+For more information about this policy, please see the Developer FAQ.
+
+Spam & Placement in the Store
+
+Developers are important partners in maintaining a great user experience in the Chrome Web Store.
+
+Repetitive Content: We don't allow any developer, related developer accounts, or their affiliates to submit multiple extensions that provide duplicate experiences or functionality on the Chrome Web Store. Extensions should provide value to users through the creation of unique content or services.
+
+Keyword Spam: We don't allow extensions with misleading, improperly formatted, non-descriptive, irrelevant, excessive, or inappropriate metadata, including but not limited to the extension's description, developer name, title, icon, screenshots, and promotional images. Developers must provide a clear and well-written description. We also don't allow unattributed or anonymous user testimonials in the product's description.
+
+User Ratings, Reviews, and Installs: Developers must not attempt to manipulate the placement of any extensions in the Chrome Web Store. This includes, but is not limited to, inflating product ratings, reviews, or install counts by illegitimate means, such as fraudulent or incentivized downloads, reviews and ratings.
+
+Functionality: Do not post an extension with a single purpose of installing or launching another app, theme, webpage, or extension. Extensions with broken functionality—such as dead sites or non-functioning features—are not allowed.
+
+Notification Abuse: We do not allow extensions that abuse, or are associated with abuse, of notifications by sending spam, ads, promotions, phishing attempts, or unwanted messages that harm the user's browsing experience.
+
+Message Spam: We don't allow extensions that send messages on behalf of the user without giving the user the ability to confirm the content and intended recipients.
+
+In addition to these requirements, all extensions must comply with Google's Webmaster Quality Guidelines.
+
+For additional information about the spam policy, see the Spam FAQ.
+
+For information about Product ranking, please see these FAQs.
+
+User Data Privacy
+
+You must be transparent in how you handle user data (e.g., information provided by a user or collected about a user or a user's use of the Product or Chrome Browser), including by disclosing the collection, use, and sharing of the data. You must limit your use of the data to the practices you disclosed. This policy establishes the Chrome Web Store's minimum user data privacy requirements; you or your Product must comply with applicable laws.
+
+Please see this FAQ.
+
+Personal or Sensitive User Data
+Posting a Privacy Policy & Secure Transmission
+
+If your Product handles personal or sensitive user data (including personally identifiable information, financial and payment information, health information, authentication information, website content and resources, form data, web browsing activity, user-provided content and personal communications), then your Product must:
+
+Post a privacy policy, and
+Handle the user data securely, including transmitting it via modern cryptography.
+Privacy Policy Requirements
+
+The privacy policy must, together with any in-Product disclosures, comprehensively disclose how your Product collects, uses and shares user data, including the types of parties with whom it's shared. You must make the the policy accessible by providing a link:
+
+In the designated field in the Chrome Web Store Developer Dashboard, and
+In the Product's inline installation page (if applicable).
+Prominent Disclosure Requirement
+
+If your Product handles personal or sensitive user data that is not closely related to functionality described prominently in the Product's Chrome Web Store page and user interface, then prior to the collection, it must:
+
+Prominently disclose how the user data will be used, and
+Obtain the user's affirmative consent for such use.
+Other Requirements
+
+The following types of personal or sensitive user data are also subject to additional requirements:
+
+Type of User Data Requirement
+Financial or Payment Information Don't publicly disclose financial or payment information
+Authentication Information Don't publicly disclose authentication information
+Web Browsing Activity Collection and use of web browsing activity is prohibited except to the extent required for a user-facing feature described prominently in the Product's Chrome Web Store page and in the Product's user interface.
+
+If your Product uses inline installation pages, then any reference to the Product's Chrome Web Store page also includes its inline installation pages.
+
+Limited Uses of User Data
+
+Upon accessing personal and sensitive user data for a single purpose, your use of the user data obtained must comply with the below requirements. The requirements apply to both the raw data obtained and the data aggregated, anonymized, de-identified, or derived from the raw data. They also apply to scraped content or otherwise automatically gathered user data.
+
+Limit your use of user data to providing or improving your single purpose
+Only transfer user data to third parties
+If necessary to providing or improving your single purpose;
+to comply with applicable laws;
+to protect against malware, spam, phishing, or other fraud or abuse; or,
+as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets of the developer after obtaining explicit prior consent from the user.
+Do not allow humans to read user data, unless:
+the user's explicit consent to read specific data for example, helping a user re-access the product or a service after having lost their password) is obtained;
+the data is aggregated and anonymized and used for internal operations in accordance with applicable privacy and other jurisdictional legal requirements;
+it's necessary for security purposes (e.g., investigating abuse); or,
+to comply with applicable laws.
+
+All other transfers, uses, or sale of user data is completely prohibited, including:
+
+Transferring, using, or selling data for personalized advertisements.
+Transferring or selling user data to third parties like advertising platforms, data brokers, or other information resellers.
+Transferring, using, or selling user data to determine credit-worthiness or for lending purposes.
+
+An affirmative statement that your use of the data complies with the Limited Use restrictions must be disclosed on a website belonging to your extension; e.g., A link on a homepage to a dedicated page or privacy policy noting: "The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements."
+
+Use of Permissions
+
+Request access to the narrowest permissions necessary to implement your Product's features or services. If more than one permission could be used to implement a feature, you must request those with the least access to data or functionality.
+
+Don't attempt to "future proof" your Product by requesting a permission that might benefit services or features that have not yet been implemented.
+
+Ads in Products
+
+Ads are considered part of your Product for purposes of content review and compliance with developer terms, and therefore must comply with the above content policies. Ads which are inconsistent with the content rating of your products or extension are also in violation of our developer terms.
+
+Ads Context and Attribution:
+
+Ads must be presented in context or clearly state which product they are bundled with. Ads must also be easily removable by either adjusting the settings or uninstalling the product altogether. Ads may not simulate or impersonate system notifications or warnings.
+
+Ad Walls:
+
+Forcing the user to click on ads or submit personal information for advertising purposes in order to fully use an app or extension provides a poor user experience and is prohibited.
+
+Interfering with Third-party Ads and Websites:
+
+Ads associated with your product may not interfere with any ads on a third-party website or application. You may show ads alongside a third-party website only if all of the following criteria are met:
+
+This behavior is clearly disclosed to the user.
+There is clear attribution of the ads' source wherever those ads appear.
+The ads do not interfere with any native ads or functionality of the website.
+The ads do not mimic or impersonate the native ads or content on the third-party website, and the ads adhere to the content policy on impersonation and deceptive behavior.
+Currently, AdSense may not be used to serve ads in Products, per AdSense policies.
+Extensions Quality Guidelines
+
+Single Purpose:
+
+An extension must have a single purpose that is narrow and easy-to-understand. Do not create an extension that requires users to accept bundles of unrelated functionality. If two pieces of functionality are clearly separate, they should be put into two different extensions, and users should have the ability to install and uninstall them separately.
+
+Common violations include:
+
+Functionality that displays product ratings and reviews, but also injects ads into web pages.
+Toolbars that provide a broad array of functionality or entry points into services are better delivered as separate extensions, so that users can select the services they want.
+Email notifiers combined with a news aggregator.
+PDF converters which also aim to change a users default search engine.
+
+Please see this FAQ for more information.
+
+API Use:
+
+Extensions must use existing Chrome APIs for their designated use case. Use of any other method, for which an API exists, would be considered a violation. For example, overriding the Chrome New Tab Page through any means other than the URL Overrides API is not permitted.
+
+Chrome Apps Quality Guidelines
+
+To ensure a great user experience, Chrome Apps distributed through the Chrome Web Store must follow the additional quality guidelines listed below. The guidelines in this section apply only to Chrome Apps.
+
+Packaged Apps should:
+
+Take advantage of the capabilities of the platform and not wrap around existing websites or simply launch a webpage without providing additional functionality.
+Detect an offline state and clearly message that state to the user.
+Recover automatically from loss of Internet connectivity, and should resume normal functioning when connectivity is restored without the user having to restart the app.
+
+Packaged and Hosted apps should not:
+
+Require a local executable, other than the Chrome runtime, to run.
+Provide a webview of a website that is not owned or administered by you.
+Download or execute scripts dynamically outside a sandboxed environment such as a webview or a sandboxed iframe.
+Misuse notifications by sending spam, ads, promotions of any kind, phishing attempts, or unwanted messages in general.
+Accepting Payment from Users
+
+If you collect sensitive personal information through your Product for sales, you must follow these requirements:
+
+You must securely collect, store and transmit all credit card and other sensitive personal information in accordance with privacy and data security laws and payment card industry rules.
+You must avoid misleading users. For example, clearly and honestly describe the products or services that you are selling and conspicuously post your terms of sale (including any refund and return policies).
+If your Product requires the user to pay to obtain basic functionality, you must make that clear in the description that the user sees when choosing whether to install it.
+You must clearly identify that you, not Google, are the seller of the products or services.
+Regardless of the method of payment, you may not process payment transactions that are prohibited for Google Checkout under the Google Checkout Seller Terms of Service. This includes any illegal transaction or the sale or exchange of any illegal or prohibited goods or services, including the prohibited products set forth in the Content Policies for Google Checkout.
+Policy Enforcement
+
+Serious or repeated violations of the Chrome Web Store Distribution Agreement or these Program Policies will result in the suspension of your developer account, and possibly related developer accounts. Additionally, you may be banned from using the Chrome Web Store. In extreme cases, this may also result in the suspension of related Google services associated with your Google account. Repeated infringement of intellectual property rights, including copyright, will also result in account termination. For more information on Google's copyright policies, please use this tool.
+
+In the event that your Product is removed from Chrome Web Store, you will receive an email notification to that effect, with further instructions if applicable. Please verify that the associated publisher account with your Product can receive emails from external parties and not get flagged as Spam to ensure that you receive all communications in a timely manner.

+
+Definitions
+
+Google: Google Inc., a Delaware corporation with principal place of business at 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, United States.
+
+Developer or You: Any person or company who is registered to develop Products for publication and distribution on the Web Store in accordance with the terms of this Agreement.
+
+Web Store: The Google Chrome Web Store site operated by Google, where Developers can publish Products for direct distribution to users of Google Chrome.
+
+Payment Processor(s): Any party authorized by Google to provide payment processing services that enable Developers with optional Payment Accounts to charge Google Chrome users for Products distributed via the Web Store.
+
+Payment Account: A financial account issued by a Payment Processor to a Developer that authorizes the Payment Processor to collect and remit payments on the Developer's behalf for Products sold via the Web Store. In order to use the Web Store payments processing services, Developers must be approved by a Payment Processor for a Payment Account and maintain their account in good standing to charge for Products distributed in the Web Store.
+
+Products: Software, content and digital materials created for use in connection with Google Chrome and distributed via the Web Store.
+
+1. Introduction
+
+The Web Store is a publicly available site on which Developers can publish Products for distribution and use in connection with Google Chrome. In order to publish Products on the Web Store, you must acquire and maintain a valid Google account.
+
+2. Accepting this Agreement
+
+2.1 Your use of the Web Store to distribute Products is governed by a legal agreement between you and Google consisting of the Google Terms of Service (found at https://policies.google.com/terms), Google Chrome and Chrome OS Additional Terms of Service (found at http://www.google.com/chrome/intl/en/eula_text.html) and this Google Chrome Web Store Developer Agreement (together, the "Agreement"). In order to use the Web Store to distribute Products, you may agree to this Agreement by clicking to accept where this option is made available to you or continuing to use the Web Store to distribute Products in accordance with section 14. You may not publish Products on the Web Store if you do not accept this Agreement.
+
+2.2 You may not use the Web Store and may not enter into this Agreement if you are (a) not of legal age to form a binding contract with Google, or (b) a person or entity barred from using Google Chrome software under the laws of the United States or other countries including the country in which you are resident or from which you use the Google Chrome software.
+
+2.3 You represent and warrant that you have full power, capacity, and authority to accept this Agreement. If you are agreeing to be bound by this Agreement on behalf of your employer or other entity, you represent and warrant that you have full legal authority to bind your employer or such entity to this Agreement. If you do not have the requisite authority, you may not accept the Agreement or use the Web Store on behalf of your employer or other entity.
+
+3. Pricing and Payments
+
+3.1 This Agreement covers both Products you choose to distribute for free and Products for which you charge a fee.
+
+In order to charge a fee for your Products using the Web Store payment processing services, you must have a valid Payment Account under a separate agreement with a Payment Processor. If you already have a Payment Account with a Payment Processor before signing up for the Web Store, then the terms of this Agreement shall supersede your Payment Account terms and condition for Products sold via the Web Store.
+
+You may set the price for your Products in the currencies permitted by the Payment Processor. The Web Store may display to users the price of Products in their native currency, but it is not responsible for the accuracy of currency rates or conversion
+
+The price you set for Products will determine the amount of payment you will receive. A Transaction Fee, as defined below, will be charged on the sales price and apportioned to the Payment Processor. The remainder (sales price less Transaction Fee) will be remitted to you. The "Transaction Fee" is set forth at http://developers.google.com/chrome/web-store/docs/#builtin and may be revised by Google from time to time. Developer is responsible for determining if a Product is taxable and the applicable tax rate for the Payment Processor to collect for each taxing jurisdiction where Products are sold. Developer is responsible for remitting taxes to the appropriate taxing authority.
+
+3.2 If you charge a fee for your Product without using the Payment Processor and the Web Store payment processing Services, then you will not be charged a Transaction Fee, and you assume sole responsibility and liability for all related transactions and authentications, records, and taxes. Google will have no obligations with respect to such Products, including without limitation obligations to track and process payments, authenticate paid or previously paid downloads, maintain payment records, or pay, report, or charge taxes.
+
+3.3 You may also choose to distribute Products for free. If the Product is free, you will not be charged a Transaction Fee. You may not collect future charges from users for copies of the Products that those users were initially allowed to download for free. This is not intended to prevent distribution of free trial versions of the Product with an "upsell" option to obtain the full version of the Product: Such free trials for Products are encouraged. In this Agreement, "free" means there are no charges or fees of any kind for use of the Product.
+
+3.4 Special Refund Requirements. If you use the Payment Processor, the Payment Processor's standard terms and conditions regarding refunds will apply except the following terms apply to your distribution of Products on the Web Store.
+
+Products that can be previewed by the buyer (such as themes): No refund is required or allowed.
+
+Products that cannot be previewed by the buyer (such as applications): You authorize Google to give the buyer a full refund of the Product price if the buyer requests the refund within 30 minutes after purchase.
+
+3.5 You Support Your Product. You agree to supply and maintain valid and accurate contact information that will be displayed in each product detail page on the Store and made available to users for customer support and legal purposes. For paid Products or in-app transactions, you must respond to customer support inquiries within three (3) business days, and within 24 hours to any support or Product concerns stated to be urgent by Google.
+
+Failure to provide adequate support for your Products may result in low Product ratings, less prominent product exposure, or in some cases removal from the Web Store, such as if the extension no longer functions as described.
+
+Except in cases when multiple disputes are initiated by a user with abnormal dispute history, billing disputes received by Payment Processor for Products sold for less than $10 may be automatically charged back to the Developer, in addition to any handling fees charged by the Payment Processor. Chargeback requests for Products $10 or more will be handled in accordance with the Payment Processor's standard policy.
+
+3.6 Reinstalls. Users are allowed unlimited reinstalls of each application distributed via the Web Store, provided however that if you remove a Product(s) from the Web Store pursuant to clauses (i), (ii), (iii) or (iv) of Section 7.1, such Product(s) shall be removed from all portions of the Web Store and users shall no longer have a right or ability to reinstall the affected Products. If you charge a fee for your Product without using the Payment Processor, then you are solely responsible for maintaining records of users who have previously paid for your Products, and Google will not be responsible for determining whether users attempting to reinstall your Products have previously paid for such Products.
+
+4. Use of the Web Store by You
+
+4.1 Except for the license rights granted by you in Section 5 below, Google agrees that it obtains no right, title or interest from you (or your licensors) under this Agreement in or to any of Products, including any intellectual property rights which subsist in those applications.
+
+4.2 You agree to use the Web Store only for purposes that are permitted by (a) this Agreement and the Google Chrome Web Store Program Policies http://developers.google.com/chrome/web-store/program_policies and (b) any applicable law, regulation or generally accepted practices or guidelines in the relevant jurisdictions (including any laws regarding the export of data or software to and from the United States or other relevant countries).
+
+4.3 You agree that if you use the Web Store to distribute Products, you will protect the privacy and legal rights of users. If the users provide you with, or your Product accesses or uses, user names, passwords, or other login information or personal information, you must make the users aware that the information will be available to your Product, and you must provide legally adequate privacy notice and protection for those users. Further, your Product may only use that information for the limited purposes for which the user has given you permission to do so. If your Product stores personal or sensitive information provided by users, it must do so securely and only for as long as it is needed. But if the user has opted into a separate agreement with you that allows you or your Product to store or use personal or sensitive information directly related to your Product (not including other products or applications) then the terms of that separate agreement will govern your use of such information. If the user provides your Product with Google Account information, your Product may only use that information to access the user's Google Account when, and for the limited purposes for which, the user has given you permission to do so. If your Product (or any part thereof) targets or directs itself to users under the age of consent, you must ensure that such Product (or any part thereof) is compliant with applicable laws or regulations at all times (including as applicable, the U.S. Children's Online Privacy (COPPA) and E.U. General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)).
+
+4.4 Prohibited Actions.
+
+4.4.1 You agree that you will not engage in any activity with the Web Store, including the development or publication of Products or other materials, that violates the Google Chrome Web Store Program Policies, or that:
+
+knowingly violates a third party's terms of service,
+
+violates any applicable laws or regulations,
+
+interferes with, disrupts, damages, harms, or accesses in an unauthorized manner the machines, hardware, devices, servers, networks, data, or other properties or services of any third party including, but not limited to, Google Chrome users, Google or any network operator, or
+
+creates a spammy user experience, whether by posting repetitive content or misleading information about an application's purpose,
+
+infringes on the intellectual property rights of others,
+
+enables the unauthorized download of streaming content or media,
+
+displays (via text, images, video, or other media) or links to:
+
+illegal content,
+
+invasions of personal privacy or violations of the right of publicity,
+
+content that interferes with the functioning of any servers, networks, or services of other parties,
+
+promotions of hate or incitement of violence,
+
+violations of intellectual property rights, including patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret, or other proprietary right of any party, or
+
+pornography, obscenity, nudity, or sexual activity.
+
+4.4.2 You agree not to access (or attempt to access) the Web Store by any means other than through the interface that is provided by Google, unless you have been specifically allowed to do so in a separate agreement with Google.
+
+4.4.3 You may not divert users or provide links to any other site that mimics the Web Store or passes itself off as the Web Store. For the avoidance of doubt, you may offer Products as access points to paid services for which customers have registered and provided payment information.
+
+4.4.4 Your Product may not use or include the NPAPI plug-in unless you obtain Google's prior permission for such use.
+
+4.5 You agree that you are solely responsible for (and that Google has no responsibility to you or to any third party for) any Products you publish in the Web Store and for the consequences of your actions (including any loss or damage which Google or any third party may suffer) by doing so.
+
+4.6 You agree that you are solely responsible for (and that Google has no responsibility to you or to any third party for) any breach of your obligations under this Agreement, any applicable third party contract or terms of service, or any applicable law or regulation, and for the consequences (including any loss or damage which Google or any third party may suffer) of any such breach.
+
+4.7 Product Ratings. The Web Store will allow users to rate Products. Along with other factors, Product ratings may be used to determine the placement of Products on the Web Store with higher rated Products generally given better placement, subject to Google's right to change placement at Google's sole discretion. For new Developers without Product history, Google may use or publish performance measurements such as uninstall rates to identify or remove Products that are not meeting acceptable standards, as determined by Google. Google reserves the right to display Products to users in a manner that will be determined at Google's sole discretion.
+Your Products may be subject to user ratings to which you may not agree. You may contact Google if you have any questions or concerns regarding such ratings at http://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/group/chromium-apps/.
+
+4.8 Marketing Your Product. You will be responsible for uploading your Products to the Web Store, providing required Product information to users, and accurately disclosing the security permissions necessary for the Product to function on user machines, hardware, or other devices. Products that are not properly uploaded will not be published in the Web Store.
+
+5. License Grants
+
+5.1 You grant to Google and its affiliates a worldwide, nonexclusive, and royalty-free license to: (a) host, link to, copy, translate, publicly perform, publicly display, test, distribute and otherwise use the Products and any content contained in, accessed by, or transmitted through the Products according to the publishing options selected by you on the Product upload page of the Web Store and (b) copy, perform, display, and use the Product for administrative and demonstration purposes in connection with the operation and marketing of the Web Store.
+
+5.2 You grant to the user a non-exclusive, worldwide, and perpetual license to perform, display, and use the Products and any content contained in, accessed by, or transmitted through the Products in connection with Google Chrome. If you choose, you may include a separate end user license agreement (EULA) in your Product that will govern the user's rights to the Products in lieu of the previous sentence.
+
+5.3 Google may use consultants and other contractors in connection with the performance of obligations and exercise of rights under this agreement, provided that such consultants and contractors will be subject to the same obligations as Google. After termination of this Agreement, Google will not distribute your Product, but may retain and use copies of the Product for support of the Web Store, Google Chrome extensions, and Google Chrome.
+
+5.4 You represent and warrant that you have all and will maintain all necessary rights to grant the licenses to the Products and any content contained in, accessed by, or transmitted through the Products to Google, its affiliates, and users of your Products.
+
+5.5 Except for the license rights granted in this Agreement, (a) you retain all rights in the Products; and (b) each party retains all rights it would have independent of this Agreement, including rights under the U.S. Copyright Act or analogous laws in other jurisdictions. Google acknowledges and agrees that it obtains no right, title or interest from you (or your licensors) under this Agreement in or to any content that you submit, post, transmit or display on, or through, the Products, including any intellectual property rights which subsist in that content (whether those rights happen to be registered or not, and wherever in the world those rights may exist). Unless you have agreed otherwise in writing with Google, you agree that you are responsible for protecting and enforcing those rights and that Google has no obligation to do so on your behalf.
+
+6. Brand Features and Publicity
+
+6.1 "Brand Features" means the trade names, trade marks, service marks, logos, domain names, and other distinctive brand features of each party, respectively, as owned (or licensed) by such party from time to time.
+
+6.2 Each party shall own all right, title and interest, including without limitation all intellectual property rights, relating to its Brand Features. Except to the limited extent expressly provided in this Agreement, neither party grants, nor shall the other party acquire, any right, title or interest (including, without limitation, any implied license) in or to any Brand Features of the other party. Subject to the terms and conditions of this Agreement, Developer grants to Google and its affiliates a limited, non-exclusive license during the term of this Agreement to display Developer Brand Features for use in connection with the Web Store and in order to fulfill its obligations under this Agreement. Nothing in this Agreement gives Developer a right to use any of Google's trade names, trademarks, service marks, logos, domain names, or other distinctive brand features.
+
+6.3 Publicity. Google and its affiliates may include Developer Brand Features, screenshots, videos, and demonstrations of your Products and any content contained in, accessed by, or transmitted through the Products in presentations, marketing materials, marketing events, developer events, financial reports, website listings (including links to your website), press releases, and customer lists (which includes, without limitation, customer lists posted on Google websites) for purposes of marketing the Google Chrome Web Store, Google products and services, or publicizing your Product. Google grants to Developer a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use the Google Chrome Brand Features for the Term of this Agreement solely for marketing purposes and only in accordance with the Google Chrome Brand Guidelines located at https://chrome.google.com/extensions/intl/en/branding.html.
+
+7. Product Takedowns, Review, and Updates
+
+7.1 Your Takedowns. You may remove your Products from future distribution via the Web Store at any time, but you must comply with this Agreement (and with the Payment Processor's Payment Account terms of service if you use the Payment Processor) for any Products distributed through the Web Store, including but not limited to refund requirements. Removing your Products from future distribution via the Web Store does not (a) affect the license rights of users who have previously purchased or downloaded your Products, (b) remove your Products from user machines, hardware, or other devices, or from any part of the Web Store where previously downloaded applications are stored on behalf of users, or (c) change your obligation to deliver or support Products or services that have been previously purchased or downloaded by users. Notwithstanding the foregoing, in no event will Google maintain on any portion of the Web Store (including, without limitation, the part of the Web Store where previously purchased or downloaded applications are stored on behalf of users) any Product that you have removed from the Web Store and provided written notice to Google that such removal was due to (i) an allegation of infringement, or actual infringement, of any copyright, trademark, trade secret, trade dress, patent or other intellectual property right of any person, (ii) an allegation of defamation or actual defamation, (iii) an allegation of violation, or actual violation, of any third party's right of publicity or privacy, or (iv) an allegation or determination that such Product does not comply with applicable law.
+
+If you remove a Product from the Web Store pursuant to clauses (i), (ii), (iii) or (iv) of this Section 7.1, and an end user purchased such Product within a year before the date of takedown, at Google's request, you must refund to the affected end user all amounts paid by such end user for such affected Product, less the portion of the Transaction Fee specifically allocated to the credit card/payment processing for the associated transaction.
+
+7.2 Google Review and Takedowns. While Google is not obligated to monitor the Products or their content, Google may at any time review or test your Products and their source code for compliance with this Agreement, the Google Chrome Web Store Program Policies, and any other applicable terms, obligations, laws, or regulations, and may use automated means to conduct such review. Google retains the right to refuse to include a Product on the Web Store. You may be required to provide information about yourself (such as identification or contact details) as part of the registration process for the Web Store, or as part of your continued use of the Services. You agree that any information you give to Google will always be accurate, correct and up to date. As part of the specification for your Product, Google may ask that you include in the file for your Product information such as your name and email address. Google may use this information when featuring the Product in our directory or for other uses. If Google is notified by you or otherwise becomes aware and determines that a Product or any portion thereof or your Brand Features; (a) violates the intellectual property rights or any other rights of any third party; (b) violates any applicable law or is subject to an injunction; (c) is pornographic, obscene or otherwise violates Google's hosting policies or other terms of service as may be updated by Google from time to time; (d) is being published or distributed by you improperly; (e) may create liability for Google or any third party; (f) is deemed by Google to have a virus or is deemed to be malware, spyware or have an adverse impact on Google's or a third party's network; (g) violates the terms of this Agreement or the Google Chrome Web Store Program Policies; or (h) the display of the Product is impacting the integrity of Google servers (i.e., users are unable to access such content or otherwise experience difficulty), Google may prevent the Product from being made available in the Web Store, remove the Product from the Web Store, remotely disable or remove the Product from user systems or devices, or flag, filter, modify related materials (including but not limited to descriptions, screenshots, or metadata), or reclassify the Product. If you have any questions or concerns regarding a removal, you may contact us at http://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/group/chromium-apps/. Google reserves the right to suspend or bar any Product from the Web Store.
+
+In the event that your Product is involuntarily removed because it is defective, malicious, infringes intellectual property rights of another person, defames, violates a third party's right of publicity or privacy, or does not comply with applicable law, and an end user purchased such Product within a year before the date of takedown: (i) you must refund to Google, all amounts received, plus any associated fees (i.e. chargebacks and payment transaction fees), and (ii) Google may withhold from your future sales the amount in subsection (i) above.
+
+7.3 From time to time, Google Chrome may check for available updates to Products, including but not limited to bug fixes or enhanced functionality. If you upload an update for your Product to the Web Store, you agree that such update will be automatically requested, downloaded, and installed without further notice to you. Google makes no guarantees regarding the timing of such updates. For the avoidance of doubt, updates to Products are subject to the same terms and conditions as the Products, including without limitation Section 7.2 of this Agreement (Google Review and Takedowns).
+
+7.4 If you are a business user based in the EU or the UK, you may also apply to resolve a dispute under this Agreement with mediation, find more details about the mediators we're willing to engage with and instructions about how to request mediation here. Except as required by applicable law, mediation is voluntary and neither you nor Google are obliged to settle disputes through mediation.
+
+8. Your Developer Credentials
+
+8.1 You agree that you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of any developer credentials or developer keys that may be issued to you by Google or which you may choose yourself and that you will be solely responsible for all applications that are developed under your developer credentials.
+
+8.2 Google may limit the number of Products that you or the company or organization you work for may publish to the Web Store. If your company or organization desires to publish additional products, a request may be made to Google who will determine, based on factors such as good standing, whether and how many additional products may be published. Good standing may be determined based on factors such as whether the company or organization has engaged in deceptive or malicious activities or has any outstanding policy violations.
+
+8.3 Google may suspend or terminate your right to publish Products on the Web Store for any reason, including but not limited to: (a) violation of the Agreement or the Google Chrome Web Store Program Policies, or (b) infringement upon any intellectual property rights, including copyright. For more information on Google's copyright policies, use this tool.
+
+9. Privacy and Information
+
+9.1 In order to continually innovate and improve the Web Store, Google may collect certain usage statistics from the Web Store and user machines, devices, or other hardware, including information on how the Web Store and Products are being used.
+
+9.2 The data collected is examined in the aggregate to improve the Web Store for users and Developers and is maintained in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. To ensure the improvement of Products, limited aggregate data may be available to you upon written request.
+
+10. Terminating this Agreement
+
+10.1 This Agreement will continue to apply until terminated by either you or Google as set out below.
+
+10.2 If you want to terminate this Agreement, you must provide Google with thirty (30) days prior notice and cease your use of any relevant developer credentials.
+
+10.3 Google may at any time, terminate this Agreement with you if:
+(A) you have breached any provision of this Agreement; or
+(B) Google is required to do so by law; or
+(C) Google decides to no longer provide the Web Store.
+
+11. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES
+
+11.1 YOU EXPRESSLY UNDERSTAND AND AGREE THAT YOUR USE OF THE Web Store IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK AND THAT THE Web Store IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ANY WARRANTY WITH RESPECT TO THE TIMING, FREQUENCY, OR IMPLEMENTATION OF DISTRIBUTION OF ANY UPDATES TO YOUR PRODUCTS.
+
+11.2 YOUR USE OF THE Web Store AND ANY MATERIAL DOWNLOADED OR OTHERWISE OBTAINED THROUGH THE USE OF THE Web Store IS AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION AND RISK AND YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO YOUR COMPUTER SYSTEM OR OTHER DEVICE OR LOSS OF DATA THAT RESULTS FROM SUCH USE.
+
+11.3 GOOGLE FURTHER EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES AND CONDITIONS OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES AND CONDITIONS OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
+
+12. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
+
+YOU EXPRESSLY UNDERSTAND AND AGREE THAT GOOGLE, ITS DISTRIBUTORS, SUBSIDIARIES AND AFFILIATES, AND ITS LICENSORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE TO YOU UNDER ANY THEORY OF LIABILITY FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL CONSEQUENTIAL OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES THAT MAY BE INCURRED BY YOU, INCLUDING ANY LOSS OF DATA, WHETHER OR NOT GOOGLE OR ITS REPRESENTATIVES HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF OR SHOULD HAVE BEEN AWARE OF THE POSSIBILITY OF ANY SUCH LOSSES ARISING.

+
+15.2 You agree that if Google does not exercise or enforce any legal right or remedy which is contained in this Agreement (or which Google has the benefit of under any applicable law), this will not be taken to be a formal waiver of Google's rights and that those rights or remedies will still be available to Google.

 3. Pricing and Payments

-3.1 This Agreement covers both Products you choose to distribute for free and Products for which you charge a fee.
-
-In order to charge a fee for your Products using the Web Store payment processing services, you must have a valid Payment Account under a separate agreement with a Payment Processor. If you already have a Payment Account with a Payment Processor before signing up for the Web Store, then the terms of this Agreement shall supersede your Payment Account terms and condition for Products sold via the Web Store.
-
-You may set the price for your Products in the currencies permitted by the Payment Processor. The Web Store may display to users the price of Products in their native currency, but it is not responsible for the accuracy of currency rates or conversion
-
-The price you set for Products will determine the amount of payment you will receive. Our content policies apply to your Product's content, including any ads it shows to users and any user-generated content it hosts or links to. Further, they apply to any content from your developer account that is publicly displayed in Chrome Web Store, including your developer name and the landing page of your listed developer website. We don't allow content that contains nudity, graphic sex acts, sexually explicit material, or content that drives traffic to commercial pornography sites.

-Developer Program Policies
+Program Policies

-Published on Friday, February 28, 2014 • Updated on Tuesday, September 28, 2021
+The Chrome Web Store is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for users, built on trust and transparency. For these reasons, the Chrome Web Store requires all developers to comply with both the Developer Program Policies listed below, and the Developer Agreement. When your extension is reviewed by Google, these policies act as a guiding principle for those reviews. These policies apply to the entire user experience of your application/extension/theme – including any marketing materials, user generated content, ads, landing pages, etc – unless otherwise noted.

+Chrome Web Store Principles

-Important: As of 06/12/2018, inline installation is deprecated. For more information, read our Chromium Blog post and Migration FAQ.
+The Chrome Web Store is a premier platform where users can discover and install extensions that are high-quality, trusted, and safe. Chrome strives to reflect the diversity of its developers and users, but will robustly curate the products in the store to ensure a positive experience. As we enhance and improve upon the Chrome Web Store experience, we are guided by the following core principles:

-Branding Guidelines | Rating Guidelines | Program Policies | User Data FAQ | Developer Agreement
+Be Safe

-The developer program policies listed below play an important role in maintaining a positive experience for everyone using Chrome Web Store. These policies apply to the entire user experience of your application/extension/theme, unless otherwise noted.
+We strive to make the Chrome Web Store a safe and trusted environment for developers and users. This means that we will remove extensions that pose security threats, access data beyond what is necessary to implement their functions, appear to take advantage of users, encourage harm or hate speech, or otherwise abuse the Store system and network.

-Please be aware that these policies pertain to your software, content, and digital materials created for use in connection with Google Chrome and distributed via the Chrome Web Store, including applications, extensions, and themes, as well as any ads bundled or made available through the product. These policies have the same meaning as in the Google Chrome Web Store Developer Agreement. There are additional quality guidelines that apply to Chrome Apps and Chrome Extensions. Be sure to check back from time to time, as these policies may change.
+Be Honest

-#
-Content policies
+Building and maintaining user trust in the Chrome Web Store is paramount, which means we set a high bar for developer transparency. All functionalities of extensions should be clearly disclosed to the user, with no surprises. This means we will remove extensions which appear to deceive or mislead users, enable dishonest behavior, or utilize clickbaity functionality to artificially grow their distribution.

-Our content policies apply to your Product's content, including any ads it shows to users and any user-generated content it hosts or links to. Further, they apply to any content from your developer account that is publicly displayed in Chrome Web Store, including your developer name and the landing page of your listed developer website. Products that include content that may not be suitable for all ages should be marked "Mature" on the Developer Dashboard.
+Be Useful

-#
-Sexually explicit material
+Extensions in the Store must provide experiences that are educational, informative, entertaining, inclusive, and that result in a positive user experience. We will remove extensions that appear to provide little to no utility to users, or do not provide the reasonably expected functionality. Chrome will also strive to provide useful tools to developers to help encourage innovation.

-We don't allow content that contains nudity, graphic sex acts, sexually explicit material, or content that drives traffic to commercial pornography sites.
+Best Practices and Guidelines

-#
-Violent or bullying behavior
+To help ensure the best experience for both users and developers, please review the below guidelines before submitting your extension to the Chrome Web Store. Following all of these guidelines doesn’t mean your extension will be automatically approved, but they will help you to avoid common mistakes that often delay the review process.

-Depictions of gratuitous violence are not allowed. Products should not contain materials that threaten, harass, or bully other users. For example, Products should not contain:
+Best Practices and Guidelines

-Content which makes a specific threat of serious harm against an individual person or a defined group of people.
-Content whose predominant purpose is to single out another person for abuse, malicious attack, or ridicule. Content that results in the unwanted sexualization of a person, including malicious claims about a person's sexual activities, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
-A series of posts/comments/photos that, taken together, clearly have the primary intention of harassment, even if each individual piece of content is not severe.
-#
-Hate speech
+Fostering a Safe Ecosystem

-We don't allow content advocating against or inciting hatred towards groups of people based on their race or ethnic origin, religion, disability, gender, age, veteran status, nationality, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, or any other characteristic that is associated with systematic discrimination or marginalization.
+The Chrome Web Store is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for users. Extensions which contain objectionable content or place users at risk are strictly prohibited.

-Additionally, the visibility of your Product may be impacted if it contains generally hateful content not covered by the above definition.
+Mature & Sexually Explicit Material

-#
-Violent extremism
+Malicious and Prohibited Products

-We remove content that recruits, fundraises, or promotes violence on behalf of extremist groups defined by the US State Department and other international organizations. Violent extremism is defined as the use of violence and intimidation in the pursuit of political aims or goals outside of societal norms.
+Hate Speech and Violent Behavior

-#
-Impersonation or deceptive behavior
+Regulated Goods and Services

-Don't pretend to be someone else, and don't represent that your product is authorized by, endorsed by, or produced by another company or organization, if that is not the case.
+Protecting User Privacy

-Developers should not divert users or provide links to any other site that mimics the Chrome Web Store or passes itself off as the Chrome Web Store. Your Product and its user experience also must not mimic functionality or warnings from a user's operating system or browser.
+We want to make sure users feel confident that the products they find in the Chrome Web Store are safe, transparent, and prioritize user privacy. Integrating these considerations within your product's design is critical.

-Any changes to device settings must be made with the user's knowledge and consent and be easily reversible by the user.
+Privacy Policies

-We do not allow products that deceive or mislead users, including in the content, title, description, or screenshots.
+Limited Use

-Don't misrepresent the functionality of your product or include non-obvious functionality that doesn't serve the primary purpose of the product. Descriptions of your product must directly state the functionality so that users have a clear understanding of the product they are adding. For example, products should not contain:
+Use of Permissions

-Claimed functionalities that are not possible to implement (e.g. "Who has viewed your social media account") or which are not directly provided by the extension (e.g. file converters which only link to other file conversion services)
+Disclosure Requirements

-Any metadata that misrepresents the extension's or developer's current status or performance on the Chrome Web Store (e.g. "Editor's Choice" or "Number One").
+Handling Requirements

-If your product has a blank description field or is missing an icon or screenshots, it will be rejected. If any of your product's content, title, icon, description, or screenshots contains false or misleading information, we may remove it.

+User Data FAQ

-The Chrome Web Store features products that align with our standards, values, and that we believe will produce valuable user experiences. Certain products that don't meet these standards, but which do not explicitly violate CWS policies - such as VPN extensions and Video Downloaders - may be restricted from being featured in the Store, but will still be available to users. For example, the following products are currently not featured in the CWS Store:
+Ensuring Responsible Marketing and Monetization

-Religious or political content
-VPNs
-Video Downloaders
-Anti-Virus tools
-Content deemed not family friendly
-Bots
-Cryptocurrency
-Non-production builds
-Prohibited products
-Gambling content
-Extensions whose developers have questionable reputations, such as historically misleading or malicious extensions.
-#
-Intellectual property
+Extensions must be marketed responsibly. When developers copy someone else's work or deceive users, it hurts users and the developer community. Don't rely on misleading behavior or unfair use of other people's work.

-Don't infringe on the intellectual property rights of others, including patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright, and other proprietary rights. We will respond to clear notices of alleged copyright infringement. For more information or to file a DMCA request, use this tool. Additionally, the visibility of your Product may be impacted if we believe it potentially infringes on intellectual property rights.
+Impersonation & Intellectual Property

-#
-Illegal activities
+Deceptive Installation Tactics

-Keep it legal. Don't engage in or promote unlawful activities in your product, such as rape, illegal sex work, or the sale of prescription drugs without a prescription. We will remove content which promotes, glorifies, or encourages dangerous or illegal activity that may result in physical harm to those involved.
+Accepting Payment From Users

-#
-Gambling
+Misleading or Unexpected Behavior

-We don't allow content or services that facilitate online gambling, including but not limited to online casinos, sports betting, lotteries, or games of skill that offer prizes of cash or other value.
+Ads

-#
-Regulated goods and services
+More documentation

-We do not allow the facilitation of the sale of regulated Products or services. Regulated goods include pharmaceuticals, alcohol, tobacco, fireworks, weapons, gambling, or health/medical devices.
+Deceptive Installation Tactics FAQ

-#
-Malicious products
+Building Quality Products

-Don't transmit viruses, worms, defects, Trojan horses, malware, or any other products of a destructive nature. We don't allow content that harms or interferes with the operation of the networks, servers, or other infrastructure of Google or any third-parties. Spyware, malicious scripts, and phishing scams are also prohibited in the Chrome Web Store.
+Developers are critical partners in maintaining a great user experience in the Chrome Web Store. Your extensions should include features, content, and UI that provide unique value to the Chrome Web Store. At a minimum, extensions should provide users with a basic degree of functionality and a respectful user experience. We may reject extensions unless they provide a unique, high-quality experience. Spamming the store may lead to your removal as a developer from the Chrome web Store.

-#
-Code readability requirements
+Featured Products

-Developers must not obfuscate code or conceal functionality of their extension. This also applies to any external code or resource fetched by the extension package. Minification is allowed, including the following forms:
+Spam and Abuse

-Removal of whitespace, newlines, code comments, and block delimiters
-Shortening of variable and function names
-Collapsing files together
-#
-Two step verification
+Quality Guidelines

-To ensure the security of CWS accounts, two step verification is required for all developer accounts prior to publishing an extension or updating an existing extension. Developers can activate two step verification for their Google Accounts here. More information on Google's two step verification features can be found here.
+Listing Requirements

-#
-Additional requirements for Manifest V3
+Minimum Functionality

-Extensions using Manifest V3 must meet additional requirements related to the extension's code. Specifically, the full functionality of an extension must be easily discernible from its submitted code. This means that the logic of how each extension operates should be self contained. The extension may reference and load data and other information sources that are external to the extension, but these external resources must not contain any logic.
+Chrome Apps

-Some common violations include:
+More documentation

-Including a <script> tag that points to a resource that is not within the extension's package
-Using JavaScript's eval() method or other mechanisms to execute a string fetched from a remote source
-Building an interpreter to run complex commands fetched from a remote source, even if those commands are fetched as data
+Product Ranking Info

-Communicating with remote servers for certain purposes is still allowed. For instance,
+Spam policy FAQ

-Syncing user account data with a remote server
-Fetching a remote configuration file for A/B testing or determining enabled features, where all logic for the functionality is contained within the extension package
-Fetching remote resources that are not used to evaluate logic, such as images
-Performing server-side operations with data (such as for the purposes of encryption with a private key)
+Extensions quality guidelines FAQ

-If our reviewers are unable to determine the full functionality of your extension during the review process, we may reject your submission or remove it from the store.
+Technical Requirements

-#
-Prohibited products
+In addition to compliance with the policies set out elsewhere in the Developer Program Policies, extensions must follow certain technical guidelines to ensure a positive user experience.

-We don't allow products or services that:
+Code Readability Requirements

-Facilitate unauthorized access to content on websites, such as circumventing paywalls or login restrictions
-Encourage, facilitate, or enable the unauthorized access, download, or streaming of copyrighted content or media
-Mine cryptocurrency
-#
-Security vulnerabilities
+API Use

-If your product is associated with a security vulnerability that could be exploited to compromise another application, service, browser, or system, we may remove your product from the Chrome Web Store and take other measures to protect users. In such an event, you may be contacted about remediation steps required to restore the product.
+Additional Requirements for Manifest V3

-#
-Deceptive installation tactics
+2-Step Verification

-Extensions must be marketed responsibly. The set of functionalities promised by the extension must be stated clearly and in a transparent manner. The outcome of any user interaction should match the reasonable expectations that were set with the user. Extensions that use or benefit from deceptive installation tactics will be removed from the Chrome Web Store.
+Enforcement

-Deceptive installation tactics include:
+Learn more about how our policies apply, how we enforce our policies, and how you can manage policy violations.

-Unclear or inconspicuous disclosures on marketing collateral preceding the Chrome Web Store product listing.
+Enforcement Circumvention

-Misleading interactive elements as part of your distribution flow. This includes misleading call-to-action buttons or forms that imply an outcome other than the installation of an extension.
+Notification and Appeals

-Adjusting the Chrome Web Store product listing window with the effect of withholding or hiding extension metadata from the user.
-
-Bundling other extensions or offers within the same installation flow.
-
-Requiring unrelated user action to access advertised functionality.
-
-For more information about this policy, please see the Developer FAQ.
-
-#
-Spam and placement in the store
-
-Developers are important partners in maintaining a great user experience in the Chrome Web Store.
-
-#
-Repetitive content
-
-We don't allow any developer, related developer accounts, or their affiliates to submit multiple extensions that provide duplicate experiences or functionality on the Chrome Web Store. Extensions should provide value to users through the creation of unique content or services.
-
-#
-Keyword spam
-
-Keyword Spam is the practice of including irrelevant or excessive keywords in an extension's description in an attempt to manipulate its ranking, resulting in a spammy, negative user experience. We don't allow extensions with misleading, improperly formatted, non-descriptive, irrelevant, excessive, or inappropriate metadata, including but not limited to the extension's description, developer name, title, icon, screenshots, and promotional images. Developers should focus on providing a clear and well-written description that uses keywords appropriately and in context.
-
-Some examples of Keyword Spam include:
-
-Lists of sites/brands/keywords without substantial added value
-Lists of regional locations
-Unnatural repetition of the same keyword more than 5 times
-Unattributed or anonymous user testimonials in the product's description.
-#
-User ratings, reviews, and installs
-
-Developers must not attempt to manipulate the placement of any extensions in the Chrome Web Store. This includes, but is not limited to, inflating product ratings, reviews, or install counts by illegitimate means, such as fraudulent or incentivized downloads, reviews and ratings.
-
-#
-Functionality
-
-Do not post an extension with a single purpose of installing or launching another app, theme, webpage, or extension. Extensions with broken functionality—such as dead sites or non-functioning features—are not allowed.
-
-#
-Notification abuse
-
-We do not allow extensions that abuse, or are associated with abuse, of notifications by sending spam, ads, promotions, phishing attempts, or unwanted messages that harm the user's browsing experience.
-
-#
-Message spam
-
-We don't allow extensions that send messages on behalf of the user without giving the user the ability to confirm the content and intended recipients.
-
-In addition to these requirements, all extensions must comply with Google's Webmaster Quality Guidelines.
-
-For additional information about the spam policy, see the Spam FAQ.
-
-For information about Product ranking, please see these FAQs.
-
-#
-User data privacy
-
-You must be transparent in how you handle user data (e.g., information provided by a user or collected about a user or a user's use of the Product or Chrome Browser), including by disclosing the collection, use, and sharing of the data. You must limit your use of the data to the practices you disclosed. This policy establishes the Chrome Web Store's minimum user data privacy requirements; you or your Product must comply with applicable laws.
-
-Please see this FAQ.
-
-#
-Personal or sensitive user data
-#
-Posting a privacy policy and secure transmission
-
-If your Product handles personal or sensitive user data (including personally identifiable information, financial and payment information, health information, authentication information, website content and resources, form data, web browsing activity, user-provided content and personal communications), then your Product must:
-
-Post a privacy policy, and
-Handle the user data securely, including transmitting it via modern cryptography.
-#
-privacy policy requirements
-
-The privacy policy must, together with any in-Product disclosures, comprehensively disclose how your Product collects, uses and shares user data, including the types of parties with whom it's shared. You must make the the policy accessible by providing a link:
-
-In the designated field in the Chrome Web Store Developer Dashboard.
-#
-Prominent disclosure requirement
-
-If your Product handles personal or sensitive user data that is not closely related to functionality described prominently in the Product's Chrome Web Store page and user interface, then prior to the collection, it must:
-
-Prominently disclose how the user data will be used, and
-Obtain the user's affirmative consent for such use.
-#
-Other requirements
-
-The following types of personal or sensitive user data are also subject to additional requirements:
-
-Type of User Data Requirement
-Financial or Payment Information Don't publicly disclose financial or payment information
-Authentication Information Don't publicly disclose authentication information
-Web Browsing Activity Collection and use of web browsing activity is prohibited except to the extent required for a user-facing feature described prominently in the Product's Chrome Web Store page and in the Product's user interface.
-#
-Limited uses of user data
-
-Upon accessing personal and sensitive user data for a single purpose, your use of the user data obtained must comply with the below requirements. The requirements apply to both the raw data obtained and the data aggregated, anonymized, de-identified, or derived from the raw data. They also apply to scraped content or otherwise automatically gathered user data.
-
-Limit your use of user data to providing or improving your single purpose
-Only transfer user data to third parties
-If necessary to providing or improving your single purpose;
-to comply with applicable laws;
-to protect against malware, spam, phishing, or other fraud or abuse; or,
-as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets of the developer after obtaining explicit prior consent from the user.
-Do not allow humans to read user data, unless:
-the user's explicit consent to read specific data for example, helping a user re-access the product or a service after having lost their password) is obtained;
-the data is aggregated and anonymized and used for internal operations in accordance with applicable privacy and other jurisdictional legal requirements;
-it's necessary for security purposes (e.g., investigating abuse); or,
-to comply with applicable laws.
-
-All other transfers, uses, or sale of user data is completely prohibited, including:
-
-Transferring, using, or selling data for personalized advertisements.
-Transferring or selling user data to third parties like advertising platforms, data brokers, or other information resellers.
-Transferring, using, or selling user data to determine credit-worthiness or for lending purposes.
-
-An affirmative statement that your use of the data complies with the Limited Use restrictions must be disclosed on a website belonging to your extension; e.g., A link on a homepage to a dedicated page or privacy policy noting: "The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements."
-
-#
-Use of permissions
-
-Request access to the narrowest permissions necessary to implement your Product's features or services. If more than one permission could be used to implement a feature, you must request those with the least access to data or functionality.
-
-Don't attempt to "future proof" your Product by requesting a permission that might benefit services or features that have not yet been implemented.
-
-#
-Ads in products
-
-Ads are considered part of your Product for purposes of content review and compliance with developer terms, and therefore must comply with the above content policies. Ads which are inconsistent with the content rating of your products or extension are also in violation of our developer terms.
-
-#
-Ads context and attribution
-
-Ads must be presented in context or clearly state which product they are bundled with. Ads must also be easily removable by either adjusting the settings or uninstalling the product altogether. Ads may not simulate or impersonate system notifications or warnings.
-
-#
-Ad walls
-
-Forcing users to click ads or submit personal information for advertising purposes in order to fully use an app or extension provides a poor user experience and is prohibited.
-
-#
-Interfering with third-party ads and websites
-
-Ads associated with your product may not interfere with any ads on a third-party website or application. You may show ads alongside a third-party website only if all of the following criteria are met:
-
-This behavior is clearly disclosed to the user.
-There is clear attribution of the ads' sources wherever those ads appear.
-The ads do not interfere with any native ads or functionality of the website.
-The ads do not mimic or impersonate the native ads or content on the third-party website, and the ads adhere to the content policy on impersonation and deceptive behavior.
-
-Currently, AdSense may not be used to serve ads in products, per AdSense policies.
-
-#
-Extensions quality guidelines
-#
-Single purpose
-
-An extension must have a single purpose that is narrow and easy-to-understand. Do not create an extension that requires users to accept bundles of unrelated functionality. If two pieces of functionality are clearly separate, they should be put into two different extensions, and users should have the ability to install and uninstall them separately.
-
-Common violations include:
-
-Functionality that displays product ratings and reviews, but also injects ads into web pages.
-Toolbars that provide a broad array of functionality or entry points into services are better delivered as separate extensions, so that users can select the services they want.
-Email notifiers combined with a news aggregator.
-PDF converters which also aim to change a users default search engine.
-
-Please see this FAQ for more information.
-
-#
-API use
-
-Extensions must use existing Chrome APIs for their designated use case. Use of any other method, for which an API exists, would be considered a violation. For example, overriding the Chrome New Tab Page through any means other than the URL Overrides API is not permitted.
-
-#
-Chrome Apps quality guidelines
-
-To ensure a great user experience, Chrome Apps distributed through the Chrome Web Store must follow the additional quality guidelines listed below. The guidelines in this section apply only to Chrome Apps.
-
-Packaged Apps should:
-
-Take advantage of the capabilities of the platform and not wrap around existing websites or simply launch a webpage without providing additional functionality.
-Detect an offline state and clearly message that state to the user.
-Recover automatically from loss of Internet connectivity, and should resume normal functioning when connectivity is restored without the user having to restart the app.
-
-Packaged and Hosted apps should not:
-
-Require a local executable, other than the Chrome runtime, to run.
-Provide a webview of a website that is not owned or administered by you.
-Download or execute scripts dynamically outside a sandboxed environment such as a webview or a sandboxed iframe.
-Misuse notifications by sending spam, ads, promotions of any kind, phishing attempts, or unwanted messages in general.
-#
-Accepting payment from users
-
-If you collect sensitive personal information through your Product for sales, you must follow these requirements:
-
-You must securely collect, store and transmit all credit card and other sensitive personal information in accordance with privacy and data security laws and payment card industry rules.
-You must avoid misleading users. For example, clearly and honestly describe the products or services that you are selling and conspicuously post your terms of sale (including any refund and return policies).
-If your Product requires the user to pay to obtain basic functionality, you must make that clear in the description that the user sees when choosing whether to install it.
-You must clearly identify that you, not Google, are the seller of the products or services.
-Regardless of the method of payment, you may not process payment transactions that are prohibited for Google Checkout under the Google Checkout Seller Terms of Service. This includes any illegal transaction or the sale or exchange of any illegal or prohibited goods or services, including the prohibited products set forth in the Content Policies for Google Checkout.
-#
-Policy enforcement
-#
-Repeat abuse
-
-Serious or repeated violations of the Chrome Web Store distribution agreement or these program policies will result in the suspension of your developer account, and possibly related developer accounts. Additionally, you may be banned from using the Chrome Web Store. In extreme cases, this may also result in the suspension of related Google services associated with your Google account. Repeated infringement of intellectual property rights, including copyright, will also result in account termination. For more information on Google's copyright policies, please use this tool.
-
-#
-Enforcement circumvention
-
-Any attempt to circumvent intended limitations or enforcement actions will result in the immediate termination of your developer account, and possibly related developer accounts.
-
-#
-Notifications and appeals
-
-In the event that your product is removed from Chrome Web Store, you will receive an email notification to that effect, with further instructions if applicable. Please verify that the associated publisher account with your product can receive emails from external parties and not get flagged as spam to ensure that you receive all communications in a timely manner.

Developers are critical partners in maintaining a great user experience in the Chrome Web Store. Your extensions should include features, content, and UI that provide unique value to the Chrome Web Store. At a minimum, extensions should provide users with a basic degree of functionality and a respectful user experience. We may reject extensions unless they provide a unique, high-quality experience. Chrome Web Store Principles
-
The Chrome Web Store is a premier platform where users can discover and install extensions that are high-quality, trusted, and safe. Chrome strives to reflect the diversity of its developers and users, but will robustly curate the products in the store to ensure a positive experience. As we enhance and improve upon the Chrome Web Store experience, we are guided by the following core principles:
-
 Be Safe
-
We strive to make the Chrome Web Store a safe and trusted environment for developers and users. This means that we will remove extensions that pose security threats, access data beyond what is necessary to implement their functions, appear to take advantage of users, encourage harm or hate speech, or otherwise abuse the Store system and network.
-
 Be Honest
-
Building and maintaining user trust in the Chrome Web Store is paramount, which means we set a high bar for developer transparency. All functionalities of extensions should be clearly disclosed to the user, with no surprises. This means we will remove extensions which appear to deceive or mislead users, enable dishonest behavior, or utilize clickbaity functionality to artificially grow their distribution.
-
 Be Useful
-
Extensions in the Store must provide experiences that are educational, informative, entertaining, inclusive, and that result in a positive user experience. We will remove extensions that appear to provide little to no utility to users, or do not provide the reasonably expected functionality. Chrome will also strive to provide useful tools to developers to help encourage innovation.

To help ensure the best experience for both users and developers, please review the below guidelines before submitting your extension to the Chrome Web Store.
