Open lehnberg opened 5 years ago

lehnberg commented 5 years ago

Came up in https://github.com/mimblewimble/grin-web-wallet/issues/9. (ping @phenomeos and @darsmith)

Also, for moving forward and collaborating, what tools is everybody using for user flows, wireframing, prototyping, version control and handoff?
 @phenomeus

sketch, invision, open to others

Same, along with Framer for higher fidelity prototypes. lehnberg We'll need a GrinVision account setup for UX / UI guys to collaborate and upload prototypes / assets.

What do you think about Figma? It's cross-platform and makes it comparatively easy to collaborate and share progress in open source settings. Unfortunately they don't give discounts to non-profits.

Could we make the free plan work for us? https://www.figma.com/pricing/

darsmith commented 5 years ago

Figma is fine. Those that prefer Sketch can easily import their prototypes however, I doubt the free plan will work as there will be more than two editors working on this project.

The inVision free plan does allow for unlimited collaborators. Although only one prototype can be worked on, we can make this work by uploading screens only.

Big fan of figma personally. I was under the impression that with figma you can have unlimited contributors but limited editors. Might have changed since I was using it.

phenomeus commented 5 years ago

its important to have a good decentralised and remote working pipeline. so I'm good with figma. if you know one tool, you can use every out there (most of the time)

darsmith commented 5 years ago

Great. @lehnberg are you able to setup a Grin Figma account?

darsmith commented 5 years ago

I think we have enough information to start turning these stories into User Flows.

Team created: https://www.figma.com/team/644160939378736930 Give me your figma userids / emails (either here or in a DM in Gitter @lehnberg) and I can add you to the team.

Note that the free version only supports two editors (write permissions basically) but unlimited viewers (comment and view permissions). Let's see if we can make this work for us. Maybe I can rotate edit permissions as and when we need it. It's also possible to collaborate on your personal figma spaces for free, so we could have a workflow where each of us start working on stuff in our personal spaces, share it with others in the team, and when we're progressing and things stabilise, we place the designs on the team space and just have editors there to do maintenance style tweaks and fixes. If that makes sense.

Read more here: https://www.figma.com/pricing-faq/#what-is-an-editor

Let's start with this, and see if we need stuff like InVision etc as well later?

404 on figma link @lehnberg

phenomeus commented 5 years ago

talk to lehnberg and give him your figma ID, he will add you

luijoy commented 5 years ago

@lehnberg I think there is a bit of a work around with figma, you can have unlimited editors on a figma project as long as you leave the project in draft and don't publish it. IIRC that's what I heard about 6 months ago, might have changed.

Would love to join as well. Put my email in Gitter.

I've been using Sketch for my work on the Monero wallet design, since those files can easily be hosted and versioned on Github. Big downside with Sketch is that it's Mac only.
