Modifications to the "persona" folder within the assets of the extracted APK no longer functions properly #1056

Open legendary-creeper opened 1 month ago

legendary-creeper commented 1 month ago

Describe the Bug The persona folder is usually used for modding purposes, such as "4D / 5D skins", skins with custom capes, etc.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Go to $HOME/.var/app/io.mrarm.mcpelauncher/data/mcpelauncher/versions/1.21.41.01/assets/assets/skin_packs/persona
  2. Delete the original persona folder
  3. Replace it with a custom skin pack persona like this one

Expected Behavior It should work as in previous MCPE Launcher versions and Minecraft for Android.

Nope, I verified it with previous Minecraft versions where it worked before updating the launcher and it had the same result.

@ChristopherHX If you require any additional information, let me know. I think it's in everyones best interest to get this resolved.

Why do you think this is a good reason to @ me?

I think it's in everyones best interest to get this resolved.

This has a very low chance to land in my backlog

I didn't change anything in this area between 1.0.0 and 1.1.0

You can diff the sourcecode and tell me if I'm wrong

You can also reinstall 1.0.0 by following flathub documentation to downgrade.

No I never replaced that folder of the game assets.

@ChristopherHX

Why do you think this is a good reason to @ me?

I wanted to let you know that I can provide additional information if required.

This has a very low chance to land in my backlog

Could you clarify what you mean by that?

I didn't change anything in this area between 1.0.0 and 1.1.0

That's interesting, since I verified that it's not related to the game version itself or anything related to it (like settings, resource packs, etc).

You can diff the source code and tell me if I'm wrong

I sadly don't have enough knowledge about the project to make a proper conclusion.

You can also reinstall 1.0.0 by following Flathub documentation to downgrade.

I rather avoid using old or outdated software for reasons, but I appreciate the suggestion.

No, I never replaced that folder of the game assets.

I think there might be a misunderstanding, that's not what I've been trying to say. Would you like me to explain?
