Oh, and when the import has been completed, this Weblate project should be shut down because it's outdated.
I made a little script for this; is it in the correct format?
File: https://github.com/minetest-mods/mtg_i18n/blob/master/locale/hu.po
Technically, no. While most strings are correct, like most items from default
mod., many strings are not in the default mod. Air is not in the default mod, it's from Minetest. Beds, boats, bones, buckets are all in their own mods, therefore they must be in their own respective TR files. Each mod gets its own TR file.
Sadly, the distinction does not seem to exist in the PO file. :-(
Maybe your script needs to somehow find a way to auto-detect where each string belongs.
Why didn't you test this yourself? You would have noticed that it wasn't complete.
Please can you post this script somewhere?
By the way, who controls the mtg_i18n project
? I strongly recommend to at least lock this project and reject any new translations, to avoid to waste precious translator time on outdated projects.
I knew that already, but I wasn't sure of the exact format; I though maybe it can be all in one file.

I'll need to then get each item and it's mod prefix or something.

I have no idea but it might be this user: https://github.com/lnjX
The strings can be matched up with those in template.txt for each mod.
Another problem; users have been editing the same files differently (on the repo and on the website). Do we merge them? What about the translation of items that differ; which translation do we keep?
I'd say if there is already a translation on the repo, keep the repo one as it is more recent.
Translations that are already 100% on the repo should not be touched. There's no need for an import.
Oh no, I meant the MTG repo. For example: https://github.com/minetest/minetest_game/blob/master/mods/default/locale/default.de.tr
That file conflicts with the de
translations in the mtg_i18n repo.
Example:
Original translation ---> mtg_i18n translation

Please do not touch German, it is complete.
As I mentioned in my PR, I didn't change anything; I just added the translations that were not there already.
On Weblate, there's a project called “Minetest: Game Internationalization”:
https://hosted.weblate.org/projects/minetest/mtg_i18n/
It was for a project for a fork of an old MTG version with
intllib
support added. MTG has since moved on, of course, but most of the strings should still be the same.On Weblate you will find a lot of complete translations (at least they are complete for the fork) for many languages, so this contains a lot of valuable community work and it would be a shame if it all would go to waste.
I suggest to import the translations and convert them to current MTG. With the exception of the translations that are already in MTG, of course.
Downloading is the easy part. Just click around. You'll find it.
The hard part is to do the conversion of file formats because Weblate uses PO. A script would be needed because there are so many strings.
