Police force concept added #246

Concept for the way we ask for police force.

This concept allows the user to brows the list based on country as well as smart search based on location if they are unsure.

The search would work on in the same way as consular appointments: https://www.consular-appointments.service.gov.uk/fco/#!/fco-consular-parent-account/-/company_list

Or foreign travel search: https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice

Not sure as to API @johnkane1

Smaller radios would be great - would need to update the whole prototype kit....

If the user doesn't know then we tell them to call the police - we should have this on the page too. I will tie this into the instant exit/ support concept I'm working on.

I think this is worth testing because its the best way I have come up with considering all the restrictions we have on us to not add more pages, the location isn't explicitly linked to the investigating force etc and the user research has shown that this is a geography questions more than anything and some users dont know what to type.

This concept would limit it to one page, would allow users who are unsure to browse and make a better choice or search by location and those who do know to select right away.... the only issue is the long radio list but I dont think we have enough data to know if that would be a problem. Breaking it down to country I think helps users to go direct to sections so that could be good. I think we just need to test this. Ive asked fellow designers but they aren't able to tell me a better way, they are just scared of the large radio list, which is a preference thing from what I can tell - it doesn't impact accessibility.

The component library says we should list them alphabetically by default, provide hints etc which we are doing but doesn't say it has to be limited to a certain number.

sorry for the brain dump but want to get this all in one place :)

@maxinedivers am attaching a tinker mock up of possible content. Ideas include: 1) additional hint text 2) allow user to click on country name to go directly to that part of page 3) a reveal for "I dont know" 4) a "back to top" icon to allow users to quickly get back to the box if they've scrolled a long way down Police search concept

Thanks @johnkane1 I was looking at the I dont know - I'm thinking its making the messy page already messy and getting in the way of the actual task - so working on that.

Love the new hint text and back to top button - will add those

The links are great too but again are we over complicating it? Will add and see how it looks.

@Julieallan any thoughts before I merge and iterate?
