Need more information on the perspective on how we should be viewing certificate management and DNS i.e should we be comparing the current DNS solution (octo DNS) with current certificate management issues (Gandi)

The answers is "No". Certificate Management requires creation of a DNS record for validation purposes. That is a manual process that can easily be managed via OctoDNS.

There is no automation for certificate management process so there are no changes that would impact the DNS solution, and vice versa.

As such cert management and DNS are exclusive of one another.
