Hi,

Im attempting to use this software over firewire 400 to 800 cable connected to apple firewire to thunderbolt cable connected to a thunderbolt to thunderbolt 3.0 cable, connected to my thunderbolt port on my creator 15 windows laptop. The device is recognized and shows up in my other devices with a camera symbol followed by "Sony DSR-25 AV/C Tape Recorder/Player." I have tried every troubleshooting step multiple times to no avail. Is this software not compatible with thunderbolt on windows? I am using the latest snapshot build that had a windows release which I believe is December 3rd 2023.

@M00nBr1ght Unfortunately, the Windows version of the software is only compatible for the analysis, merge and package functions for the DVRescue GUI. The Windows/Linux version requires different background tools for that OS and you might need to check the Ubuntu permissions. We're working on it though.

@dericed and @privatezero can correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that vrecord dvcapture is typically supported on Windows.

However, the current configuration you're describing won't work for either. You need to have a Firewire card installed into your Windows or Linux computer. The tool being used for the Windows/Linux version doesn't communicate with adapters. Here's an example of the set-up you need for a Windows computer.
