does netback work for you on this build btw? my bridge setup wedges, not had a chance to debug it yet

I can build and run mirage-skeleton/network, including pinging and telnetting to the VM from my laptop.

Great, I'll do a completely fresh rebuild with this latest changeset, probably some local change affecting me.

Yep, that should work, if you also follow these instructions to install mirage:

Can you e-mail me a public ssh key? I have a VM on blobs.openmirage.org where we can publish the SDcard image for more convenient download.
