Briefcase not working in Firefox or Safari on Mac #144

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Visit the briefcase page in 0.9.3
2. The page displays an "Error launching applet" message (or something like 
that).
3. Viewing the error just shows the java console, with no clear error messages.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Should show the app.  Also should determine how to get detailed error messages.

Happens with Firefox 3.6.11 and Safari on Macs.  

Dylan has reproduced this in the ICTD lab.

Workaround is to use Chrome.
